The Greatest Enchantment
Moments in the Flow: Interest Arrives A Decade Later
Hello again,
I’m still feeling the quiet of a slow entry into a New Year. Even the skies this week hold no major change or event. This morning I woke to see Mercury, rising in the East and since then I’ve received several messages. One was from a woman in Australia who has a new Facebook page devoted to Fairies. She asked us to tell our stories of seeing this elemental, if we had one, and I certainly do. So I told it and said it had inspired me to write what became a novella.
She was intrigued and wants to read it, and that brought up the thread of my unfortunate self publishing with what they now call Vanity publishers. I found out why.
We Live and Learn
Despite my effort and some money invested, this company has control over all the distribution, including the Amazon page. Ten years later, I have yet to see any royalty payment. When I inquired, they said they don’t pay until you reach $75. There are 10 reviews on the Amazon page alone and at $15.00, that is more than $75. But there must be some timeframe, other than cumulative aspect to it, that lets them off the hook .
The copies I bought from them at 50% plus shipping to sign and sell did very well over the years and I’ve only got a few left. But I won’t buy them again. And it seems I have another job to do this week and that is contacting them. I own the copyright and I want to see if I can get a divorce from this contract and come out with a new edition that is under my control.
A New Edition or an Audiobook?
In the meantime, I read the reviews and decided to see if I could read some aloud and maybe create an audiobook. However, these days I am prone to making at least one mistake on my voiceovers here, and at this point I don’t do editing. If there is a mistake, or two, I hope you’ll let it pass by.
I’d like to try reading Chapter One here and maybe you can tell me what you think? I can’t do voices for each character because there are just too many male, female and creatures to differentiate. But maybe on this cold January day in the northern hemisphere, you will enjoy being transported to ‘Midsummer eve in the green and flowering forests of the Blue Ridge Mountains.’
So here goes…Chapter One of The Greatest Enchantment. This turned out to be the first part of Chapter One and I hope you’ll be interested in hearing more. Please let me know by touchng the heart icon above or below this post. And I welcome your comments, too!
See you next time!

I love the idea of YOU reading The Greatest Enchantment. And I listened and my vote is yes! Of course, also, if you can get a “divorce”, I still love the feel of the book in my hand and reading hard copy, but I understand with the audio, it appeals to many more!
Hi Shellie, how sweet to see The Greatest Enchantment again. Your voice would be wonderful for audible books! My only comment is that the fidelity could maybe be a little clearer. It could also be my ears as I've recently been diagnosed with hearing loss. Oh well. Here's to The Greatest Enchantment reaching new audiences!
