<< Yesterday I came upon an article about the Women of ancient times who tended the Holy Wells. >> I wonder how many cultures share this tradition in one form or another. I recently read about "Miriam's Well," which was said to have sustained Israelites in the desert for most of their forty-year stay. [Miriam was the sister of Moses and a prophet in her own right.]

Thank you Lenny. Not all wells are holy wells. Communities had wells supplying drinking and cooking water but these others are the ones that connect to miracles...healing...and the presence of the elementals. This is why they became 'lost' for many thought the Roman Church do have one famous healing site in Italy. I wrote a Substack about Miriam a while ago...she is one of the women of the Bible that suffers from diminished recognition. You might enjoy that. https://shelliewrites.substack.com/p/to-tell-the-truth?r=1nyuso&utm_campaign=post-expanded-share&utm_medium=web
