Cycles of the Ancestors
Moments in the Flow...Ancestral Wisdom
Hi again,
I know I promised to read more from The Last Priestess, but more than one obstacle got in the way of that, and my desire to rerecord the second installment after the voiceover I posted sped up to 1.5x on its own. Perhaps those are messages from a Muse who inspired me. I’m not meant to read the book to you. But it seems I can share some excerpts that show things I learned while I wrote her story.
The information shared in my post When Seasons Shift included a discussion of cycles and the Celtic Calendar. In an earlier post, Introducing Anwen the voiceover reading of Chapter One, Returning, contains a direct message from the Muse and continues with the story of Anwen’s birth. It is the only time a month from the Gregorian Calendar appears in the novels: June 22, 479 AD. But when Anwen begins to speak, she says, “I came into the world on Midsummer’s Day.”
I realize now that this was a subtle way to connect our current thinking with the ancestral past. As the inspired writing went on, I found I was not able to list her age in years or use the modern names for the quarters and cross quarters of the year.
Cycles in the Trilogy
In Chapter Two, Awakening, she tells us, “I began to have visions of the different path my life would take. The first came on the day after my sixth Midsummer.” And that is how all the characters’ ages and timing of events will be told going forward: the number of cycles or a reference to a specific festival during the 8 divisions of the calendar.
But, why? As it happened, I honestly didn’t know why. I was following the inspiration and allowing myself to record it. There were things I researched when I wondered if what was said could have been true. At times to my surprise, what I heard was always validated.
Until recently, I simply accepted the fact that, despite the Roman influence and their Julian Calendar, the people of the era known as the Celtic Dark Ages remained aware of these cycles. It was the way of connection to Nature which held the infinitely repeating cycles that were the basis of survival.
The grace of the Goddess and Consort in the realm of manifestation moved in a circle. Honoring ceremonies at the festivals empowered this connection to Nature with gratitude. This in turn, nurtured the earth itself.
Messages from the Stars
But this week, I read about this in a book, Family of Light. It is part of the Pleiadean transmissions received by Barbara Marciniak. It was published in 1999, and it has a lot of information and instructions about the time we are in now.
In one message they tell us about the difference between us and our ancestors 2,000 years ago. A main feature of this message is something I said in the post about the seasons: the idea that we follow a 400-year-old calendar that has gradually focused us more and more in linear thinking.
Cycles and the Brain
It is said that when we are focused in the linear timeline, we function in the ‘left brain’ realm of logic and analysis. We lose the intuitive part of the right brain, which is also the creative, telepathic quality of our ‘natural knowing.’ In this age of technology and the cubicle workspace, being more of a ‘right brain’ type can become a detriment (unless you successfully pursued your creativity, like many here on Substack).
The focus on the linear has made it easier to influence our thinking. The Pleiadean messengers tell us we are unaware of the wars to control our mind, but I think that 25 years after the publication of the book, many are seeing it now. And we see the successful effect it has had on dividing us and keeping us in fear.
This 25-year period is described as a window of opportunity as a New Age was beginning. We can choose how we want the Age to be. The messengers encourage us to regain the balance of both sides of the brain…especially to reawaken our intuition which is the direct line to the higher mind ‘Natural Knowing.’ It is not easily influenced.
The circular nature of cycles maintains the balance of the brain’s logic and intuition. It inspires caring for and nurturing all aspects of life on earth. It would seem this is an extremely important idea now. And their message is that we can succeed.
In my own way, for more than a decade now, I have come to honor the seasonal festivals in groups, and on my own. I find I am drawn to labyrinths at each Equinox. A time of equality of light and dark, the process of walking in toward the center and back out again seems appropriate. Shifting into the dark or light half of the solar year also feels like a good time to walk in with a prayer for a new direction and walk out with a plan. And I plan to visit one in the North Carolina mountains near the Libra Equinox this year.
I hope this and other posts have inspired you to find your own way to be in harmony with these cycles. Subscribers will find notification of when I am ready to create circles, ceremony, and meditations on this Substack page.
See you next time!

I feel less inclined to honor the "commercial" calendar these days but it's a battle as that's where the majority are focused. From a business aspect, I am drawn into it reluctantly but on a personal aspect, I am more inclined to honor the cycles of nature as my garden dictates.
What a fascinating write Shell…🙏🌷
While I do not know if a labyrinth close-by my daily walks of 2 miles are in a very large Infinity sign. I have put many prayers into that infinite formation, which I feel holds great power.
As you know, my intuition was deeply influenced, controlled and affected by an adept.
All my prayers in that infinity formation have been to release me for good from that influence. The symbol must hold great power as my wish has slowly unfolded into coming true.
🌷🌷🙏
