Approaching The New Era
Moments in the Flow…Musings on Neptune’s Shift into Aries
Hello again,
On January 26th at 12:57 p.m. EST, Neptune will leave the deep sea that it rules and enter the fires of Aries. Don’t be surprised if there’s steam rising, obscuring some of the issues of the day. And this is one of the effects that will be a potential in the polarity this combination will bring. One thing you can say about steam is that it can power engines. But another is the potential to get burned if you touch it.
Neptune in Aries
Looking back to the first almost 6-month transit in 2025 (March 30th to 22nd of October) we may find actions taken on things that didn’t turn out the way we expected or hoped they would. Lack of action may be featured. Agreements may have fizzled.
Neptune got up to 2 degrees before it retrograded on the 4th of July, an appropriate statement for the direction the US had taken since January with an unapproved agency created and making undisclosed actions in major government agencies…for one.
It saw the death of forward-thinking Pope Francis the First and a supposition that the Conclave would lean toward a more conservative replacement. Surprisingly, after only 33 hours, the vote brought the election of another liberal, Pope Leo the XIV, the first American to fill this office.
We saw the deadly flood in central Texas that took 135 lives, including 27 children attending Camp Mystic on the shores of the Guadelupe River. The surge took place at night, and this brought up the issue of the absence of early warning systems as why timely, life-saving evacuations did not take place.
Then we saw a ceasefire that we thought would bring the end to the situation between Israel and Palestinians. It did bring a return of the hostages (and some of the remains) but as time went on, conflict and inhumane conditions remained.

The tendency for the negative will be part of the longer transit that culminates in March of 2039. But there are other, more positive ways of looking at the combination that include:
· Spiritual principles in enlightened leadership.
· Acting with compassion.
· Caring for the vulnerable.
· Embracing spiritual philosophies that recognize the sacred nature of individuals and the interconnectedness of all.
· The current Walk for Peace the Tibetan Monks have undertaken to help heal the US is an example and other similar actions that may supersede the anger-fuelled protest that can draw violence.
Other ways of seeing this combination:
The realms of film, photography, and music will shift into new territory.
Action may be taken against the ‘fake’ creations and stolen material published by AI.
Saturn will enter Aries on February 13th when the Lord of Karma begins doling out lessons in wrongful use of power and leadership (more on Saturn in Aries to come).
The Chart for Neptune’s Entry
Aries is the first sign of the Zodiac, and 0 degrees carries the “World Degree” of creation. This is what makes the conjunction of Saturn and Neptune at 0 Aries an Era-maker. The last time the conjunction occurred at 0 Aries was 7,000 BC and this created the Agricultural Era and the development of more permanent human settlements.
That Neptune entering Aries now will foretell major change is seen in the chart for that day and time. There is a ‘stellium’-- a ‘parade’ of 5 planets in Aquarius rising, with Mars leading the way — another indicator of rapid movment toward surprising change and the sign connection to the Age we are currently in. My opinion is that this is the ‘dawning’ of the Age of Aquarius which began at the discovery of Uranus in the 19th century…and it was in Gemini, as it will be soon again. Pluto in Aquarius is also saying ‘transformation and change.’
The conjunction takes place on February 20th, just days after the Ring of Fire Eclipse at the 28 Aquarius New Moon which foretells a change in the world, and the arrival of the active Lunar New Year of the Fire Horse on the 17th.
Looking Back
An Age is shorter than an Era, even the ages of the zodiac that are thought to be 2,160 years. The Yugas of the Hindus are more like Eras which are longer but don’t have the same time lengths as the Ages do. The Agricultural Era followed the Hunter/Gatherer Era and saw the rise of the Industrial Age. Small or individual settlements began turning into larger cities with multiple dwellings and factories with job potential that removed many from their former agricultural lifestyles.
In these larger populations there arose a need for stores where goods and produce could be purchased. Manufacturing brought innovations for travel and homes. People living in 1820 and beyond saw the horse-drawn carriages replaced by early railroads for long-distance transport. After the ‘turn of the century’ into the 1900s came the rise of individual cars and long-distance travel by airplanes. Now electric cars are on the rise while spaceships take people to space stations and some dream of creating cities on Mars.
Entertainment went from live performances to radio and television; vinyl records to tapes, 8-tracks, and CDs…now we download music into our cell phone or create playlists on music websites.
The invention of the refrigerator (first an ‘ice box’ then electronic), the washer and dryer, the dishwasher and more made housework easier. Now the appliances are ‘smart’ themselves and figure out what you need on their own.
Unfortunately, along with all the pluses for lifestyles, the Industrial Age lost the reverence for the earth and the idea of preserving forest and natural land areas and habitats. Perhaps the compassionate side of Neptune will bring that back.
What Will a New Era Bring?
The trend now seems to be going toward an electronic, robotic, society. There is talk of putting chips in the brain so you are constantly connected to information, internet, etc. and I just can’t see doing this when there would be more than you know being transmitted. Small steps toward this are wearing a smart watch that monitors health and the use of AI robotics to perform surgery.
Our Own Vision
I am now officially ‘old-fashioned’ in my concern about the place for humans in an Era of Robots and AI humanoids. But our own vision is powerful and might circumvent dystopia if we can see the future in a positive light. For example:
· Positive use of electronics and energy focus in safe healing methods.
· Create access to reliable sources of information.
· Employ new ways to deal with the byproducts of inventions for convenience, like plastic.
· Create different types of energy management along with solar and wind.
· Funding and support of new methods that already exist.
· Invent a way to block some of the solar heat other than pieces of metal reflectors carried in the sky that drop to earth and enter our breath and the water supply.
· As for agriculture, inventions to bring new ways to create water supplies to farms and other ways to create produce that is safe from climate change.
Support for Positive Visions
And if that sounds good to you…envision it. Supporting our visions at the beginning of the New Era is the ‘mini grand trine’ formation of Uranus in Gemini trine Puto in Aquarius with Neptune in Aries equally distant in a helpful sextile to both. That’s a lot of psychic and intuitive potential.
“New inventions” is an appropriate tag for Aries. To our own visions we might add a new way of being…without hierarchical thinking and the patriarchal ways…that thrive on competitive, personal achievement, hoarding wealth and holding superior positions.
I’ll do a post sometime on an unseen obstacle we didn’t have until the writings of Augustine in the 400s AD. In the meantime, you can find the writings of Matthew Fox and on a philosophy called Creation Spirituality. From what I’ve seen, it is a return to the ancestral ways but with modern applications.
As always, the house(s) that holds this conjunction and the transit of Neptune in Pisces will play a part in how and where this influences you. Any aspect it makes to your birth planets add information to your experience.
So, now I’ll leave you to your own musings and see you next time! ✨🌀✨

The birth of agriculture brought with it a new relationship with the land. I was just reading a thesis (from a mid-20th century scholar) that posited that the explosion of symbolic forms coinciding with the birth of agriculture can be read as the human mind being rewired to assume greater control over our environment than during paleolithic times, when humanity was dependent on the natural world, though we engaged in rituals and magic in an attempt to propitiate Nature to shower her beneficence. While agriculture requires a strong connection to the land, the nature of that connection was fundamentally changed.
With the industrial revolution, humans became increasingly alienated from their natural environment (and from the context of myth that had previously provided a coherent worldview).
As we launch into a new (information) age and potentially a new era, the question arises: what will this mean for our relationship with Mother Earth?
