Moments in the Flow…Walking the Path of Transformation

Hello again,

In some recent post I may have mentioned that I became the ‘Minister of Ritual and Ceremony’ for a group called S.T.A.R. where we explore the Sacred Traditions and Rituals of many cultures. It is an all-embracing group which suits me.

And the group is guided in certain ways by Creation Spirituality which is not a religion but an enlightened philosophy. It began when Matthew Fox, while part of the Catholic Church, realized the concept of Original Sin (and the need for redemption) wasn’t created until the 5^th century by Augustine. Matthew Fox released the concept of a judgmental and punishing God and shifted to realize the Omnipresence of the Creator, which means whether seen or unseen, the Creator energy is in all things.

I studied many philosophies and religious rituals myself over the years and came to a similar conclusion. Reading his book, Original Blessing, gave me revelations after revelations.

The Turning Point at the Solstice and in the Nature of the Path

A solstice is a literal turning point. It is the change of direction in the Sun’s movement, as we see it on the horizon. At the Midsummer Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere, we have reached the peak of daylight hours with the Sun moving north. It stops as it enters Cancer and stands still (‘sol-stice’) for three days, then resuming movement but now going toward the south. With this, we enter the cycle of waning light.

Just like the Lunar cycle, in this Solar cycle we are supported in activity toward achievement in the waxing cycle. As we enter the waning cycle, things, including support and focus, change.

Matthew Fox defined the 4 quarters of the Solar Cycle as Vias or pathways:

1. Via Positiva

2. Via Negativa

3. Via Creativa

4. Via Transformativa

At the Midsummer Solstice we end the 3^rd Pathway, the Via Creativa. His book further defines themes and manifestations in these pathways. He has said a downside to the Via Creativa is that it is the most dangerous path of all. In the gift of free will, we were given the ability to create, but we are not assured to have the wisdom of the ramifications of those creations. As he says, at this point in our human history, we have accelerated creations that may cause our own extinction.

The recognition of this and what might be done about it is a process that occurs at the Summer Solstice turning point: the Via Transformativa. Now we ruminate and celebrate the return of wisdom, compassion and the realization of what is natural (not legal) justice. It is the way of the prophets (and we are all prophets). And it can lead to the embracing of a New Creation.

Negativity can enter here, too, as the idea of change can be resisted through fear. But on this path, we may ruminate on this and find the wisdom that reveals the change that needs to occur and will benefit all.

EarthShot—Solutions to Restore and Repair

To give an ‘in the world’ example of a positive Transformativa activity, this morning I saw the speech given by Prince William as he opened another doorway in his project: the EarthShot Prize. The ‘Shot’ in this name is not a photograph or a bullet…it is giving the Earth ‘a shot’ at healing and being restored. That this project begins anew on the first week of the Via Transformativa may be a ‘coincidence,’ but it is a platform that is all about support of New Creations that work toward this goal.

Whether you like ‘Royals’ or not, I urge you to spend 5 minutes to listen to his speech at EarthShot today. The initial contest began in 2020. And we are being told of the project’s success. They have proof and there is hope. And despite the issues of massive wealth inequality, this is a place where those with massive wealth are spending money to make a difference that will benefit us all.

With EarthShot 2026 we will see a shift into an initiative to get both new solutions and get those efforts that have proven results begin to be used in all places around the world.

Apart from EarthShot, there are other projects taking place where people are re-wilding and restoring nature. Transformation can also be going back to the natural laws of earth to overcome the negative creations that have brought us to the brink…this is a way of justice.

And when we find the New Creation that aligns with positivity, healing, and compassion, we celebrate and allow the element of play to return to our life.

Transformation in Your Life

Reading this, you may already know where you would like to see Transformation and New Creations in your life. These may be on the emotional or material level. If not, spending time meditating on this may bring you this information.

You can see how the project flows by using the simple 3-card or the 5-card ‘Star’ spread. (Or the spread that is your favorite.)

The 3-card Spread

Thinking about your intention, you shuffle as always and use your left hand to cut the deck.

Place the first card on the left, the second in the middle, and the third on the right.

Card One shows the Present influences in relations to this goal. Card Two suggests the action to be taken. Card Three shows results.

The 5-card Star Spread

Hold the deck and think of your intention. Shuffle and cut the deck as directed above.

The First Card goes slightly down and to the left. It shows the current nature of the project.

The Second Card goes up and to the right. It shows a challenge that must be overcome.

The Third Card goes across to the left which will be above the First Card. This shows the forces at work in the situation now.

The Fourth Card goes down to the right, below the second card. This is the best advice on actions to take.

The Fifth Card goes above these four and in the middle, completing the 5-pointed star formation. This is your result if you recognize the meanings and manifestations of the first three cards and take the action suggested.

Another way of getting a Yes or No answer is to count the number of cards upright and down. Up is Yes and Down is No.

Sometimes I use two different decks and after doing the spread with one, I draw cards from the second deck and place them in order, next to the cards in the first spread for another way of seeing the meaning.

And we can always observe what life brings us in experiences and opportunities that hold the direction of transformation and new creation.

The Via Transformativa will be the active path until the Sun Enters Libra at the Autumn Equinox (this year on September 22 at 8:05 p.m. EDT and 1:05 a.m. on September 23^rd in BST). The Via Positiva begins.

Midwinter Solstice brings the Via Negativa, and Spring Equinox brings the Via Creativa.
