About Your Personal Moon

Knowing the Moon Sign and Phase at birth is helpful as this combination describes your instinctive feelings and responses to the environment. And this also lets you know when you will have a personal Monthly Lunar Return when the Moon returns to the degree and sign it was in at birth. In progressions to your birth chart, we will find your Moon is in a different sign, phase and location. This is also good to know as it shows deeper and longer lasting effects. In a similar cycle to Saturn, there is a full chart Lunar Return near ages 27, 54, and 81. Knowing this gives more information about the signs, houses, and phases of the progressed Moon which reveals where feelings and changes are most pronounced and when the location and signs shift.

· The week begins in the 1st Quarter Phase. In this phase we look for places to plant the seeds of our intentions where they will grow and we will start to see some of the seeds growing. Moon is in the Waxing Crescent Phase.

· When the Scorpio Moon squares the Sun in Leo on Wednesday at 10:46 p.m. EDT we enter the Waxing Half Moon Phase.

· Thursday, we enter the 2^nd Quarter Phase. We begin to fertilize the growth of our plans while seeking the information, tools, and connections that will help us have a good harvest at the Full Moon next week. Moon is in the Waxing Gibbous Phase

• The Libra Moon begins the week. Libra Moon brings the instinct to discuss, compromise, create relationships, create beauty, see all sides. Pitfalls: People pleasing, using charm to influence others, difficulty making choices, swinging back and forth in moods and opinions.

• Monday Libra Moon brings a good morning for relationships, meetings, and an optimistic, generous mood through lunchtime EDT. These pleasant times continue while the Moon is void of course until it enters Scorpio.

  

• Scorpio Entry, Monday 5:46 p.m. EDT. Scorpio Moon brings the instinct to protect the self by being in control and influencing situations for personal safety and profit. Pitfalls: Being unconscious of motivation and the effect of actions, taking revenge, micromanaging, keeping secrets.

• Monday Scorpio Moon knows that challenges are on the way and someone will want to be in control of the future, setting goals, and leading group meetings. This culminates at 1:01 a.m. EDT on Tuesday.

• Tuesday Scorpio Moon wakes with the memory of a supportive visit in the overnight dreamtime, but the day ahead will bring more conflicts, especially over finances and who should be in control of investments. A difficult conversation is on the way that will culminate at 4:06 a.m. on Wednesday.

• Wednesday Scorpio Moon is challenged by yet another person who wants to hold the position of authority and control and this will culminate at 10:46 p.m. EDT. Moon is Void of Course until it enters Sagittarius.

  

• Sagittarius Entry, Thursday 4:30 a.m. EDT. Sagittarius Moon brings the instinct to expand, see the big picture, take long journeys in body and mind, find humor. Pitfalls: inability to sit still, overstepping boundaries, telling tales, well-meaning but inappropriate humor.

• Thursday Sagittarius Moon brings a breakthrough in the prior week’s stalemate. The energy is cooperative and presents some visions for how to move forward until lunchtime EDT. The afternoon brings opposing ideas, changes and surprises. In the evening we begin to feel more optimistic and we can have a good time going out with generous friends.

• Friday Sagittarius Moon may deal with someone who has been through a letdown or lost a case. Sagittarius Moon succeeds in mediation in the early part of the day which allows the Moon to move freely through Friday. A good talk comes in the late night or early hours on Saturday.

PLANETARY AND LUNAR EVENTS

SUN ENTERS VIRGO

As the wheel of the year turns, we move into preservation time for the ongoing grain harvest. How appropriate that the Sun now enters the sign of the Goddess of Grains, the Mutable Earth sign, Virgo. Preserving takes the kind of analyzing, organization and attention to detail that the sign of Virgo brings. While this happens, there was ongoing work in the fields, and we look forward to the arrival of other preservable crops that are ready near the end of the Sun’s Virgo transit at the Equinox. And apart from agriculture, all the creativity of Leo moves into the planning stage of Virgo.

This year the Virgo entry takes place on Saturday the 22^nd at 10:19 p.m. EDT. This is a month before the 2^nd Harvest arrives and the Sun enters Libra. (More on that next month). And so, Virgo time for our Ancestors was the last of the ‘more light’ season and inspired us to create other necessities for the coming winter which arrived after the last Harvest was done and all plant life grew underground (November 1).

During the Virgo transit in our world, we had already seen and maybe ordered things during the practical deep sales of summer clothing. Now we can assess the contents of our closets and drawers to see if we want or need something in the fall and winter fashions we’re seeing. Removing what we don’t want, we may make a contribution to others.

Our ancestors engaged in a more ‘hands-on’ contribution to this process. As the nights grow shorter, making sure the winter clothes are in good repair and possibly weaving more blankets, scarves and so on would take up some time around the fire.

Virgo is a sign of precision which supports this taking stock of things and attending to sewing, weaving which require precision and perfection. But there was also the preservation of medicinal herbs for the creation of home cures like teas and salves they needed. Virgo and her house in the birth chart are where we think about health and what our body needs in this way, too.

If the First Harvest was a masculine, bonfire and Sun God festival, Virgo has no festival days, but we are honoring the ways of the Priestess and the Wise Woman. With Ceres and her earlier form, Demeter, we are preparing for the time when the daughter, Persphone/Proserpina goes back underground for her six months stay with her husband, Hades/Pluto, Lord of the Underworld. The is also a symbol of the plant life cycle--spending 6 months underground before returning to the surface again.

Near that time, the Virgo ideal of cleanliness will come into play, too. Spring Cleaning had its counterpart in the Fall. Gathering and storing hay and herbs to use for strewing over the dirt floors would be important, too. Closer to the winter, they would sweep out the old floor covering and begin to use pine needles mixed in to the new. Pillows and mattresses might be opened to insert more pine in the filling, too. This helped counteract effects of cold weather…easing pain or rheumatism and helping the lungs, too.

The Sun’s Virgo transit in our lives helps us focus on the back to work, back to school time after the summer vacation. We may make appointments with health professionals and might want to look for a new job, too. We may shop for items for the bathroom, cleaning products, and office needs.

In the Spiritual Level of astrology Virgo is where the Initiate becomes complete within the Self. That is the actual meaning of Virgin*, not celibacy. At this stage we have lost the tendency to be a servant to the beliefs of others and we are not susceptible to addictions on any level. This can be a lifetime goal for those incarnating with the need to learn more about this sign and become a Sovereign Self.

The house in our birth chart where the Sun’s transit of Virgo takes place will have significant events and be where we feel more strength.

Virgo Sun has easy aspects with planets in Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn, Cancer and Scorpio. Pisces is the sign in opposition and where we will have our Lunar Eclipse at the Pisces Full Moon on the 27^th. Virgo is square to the Air sign Gemini and mutable Fire sign Sagittarius. it has no major aspects with the other Libra and Aquarius, Aries and Leo.

*Vestal Virgins were another type of Priestess where celibacy was required. It was an order created in Rome in the BC era and lasted until 394 CE. This was not long before the Romans would shift their religion to Christianity (and we know what happened after that).

OUTER PLANET SIGN SHIFTS AND RETROGRADES

Entering the Retrograde Cycle of the Solar Year

We have Pluto retrograde, Neptune and Saturn retrograde. Uranus retrogrades on September 10^th, Venus on October 3^rd, Mercury again on October 24^th and finally Jupiter on December 12^th.

The largest number of planets in retrograde will be when 5 are retrograding at the same time:

1. When Venus, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are retrograde (Pluto for 12 days but goes direct on Oct. 15th).

2. When Mercury retrogrades again on October 24th, with Venus, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune retrograde.

Looking back at the week with a total Solar Eclipse in Leo shortly after the Nodal Shift made Leo a south node sign, I can see myself and others being pulled into the dramatic nature that is one of Leo’s attributes; one that can go overboard Jupiter in Leo can also exacerbate situations and bring in the quality of judgement. This activates the Leo need for attention versus its ability to give warm, generous, affection.

The controversy in the Astrological Community continues with demonstrations of power from those who are quickly breaking ties that deeply affect other people and organizations who have not expressed rejection and disdain for a person who had been a popular teacher and writer. In response are the conciliatory reactions of people who fear the loss of their own students, organization, and customers.

This makes astrological sense because what happened to engage the anger also provoked a deep sense of betrayal which is a sensitive Leo issue. This royal sign expects, and in some cases, demands loyalty. And that loyal commitment to nurture and support students was broken. It matters. And if others support or just don’t condemn people who betray us, we feel hurt and react to this, too. And in this case, the betrayal of one teacher became the rejection and attack on all the teachers (and people?) of his generation, whether they supported this person or not.

So we see Jupiter in Leo expanding both drama and judgment. With the Sun Ruling Leo and Jupiter the King of the Gods as ultimate judge, we are also looking at outer authority and the authority within us.

Identity

Leo has a lot to do with our Identity. It is the home of the ‘personality’ ego self and that has gotten a good and thorough bashing throughout the past few decades. But a sense of our individual self is important for relating to the world and becoming known. Leo, the sign of creativity, actors, entertainment, and self-expression also creates a personal role to play. Like the fixed quality of this sign, we need a fixed persona to recognize in our mirror each day. It is also important for others to know us and be able to predict our behavior.

Having an ego and recognizable persona is not a bad thing that needs to be destroyed, but it can be examined when negative and hurtful manifestations need to be understood and overcome. And this is not overcoming only for the good of others, but ultimately for ourselves. And one of those “cues” to observe can be when we experience times of anger and drama. What we might examine is not the ‘right/wrong’ sense of judgment but a recognition of how identified we are with these feelings. The more identified we are the harder it becomes to move on to the next space and regain peace within.

In my own life, I became involved in another betrayal drama; learning that the way our healthcare systems treats a widely experienced issue for women over 50 is not effective and in fact can cause unexpected complications. After all this time, it would seem the doctor wouldn’t want to use this treatment, but their hands have become tied by what insurance will and will not cover. And when you think about it, this is a serious betrayal from someone who took the Hippocratic Oath.

Fortunately, I have already been living outside these restrictions and choosing alternative health ways. This project just took up a lot of my time, researching the ways outside of the healthcare system that have proven effective, and I found one, backed by the results of a medical study. I found that focusing this way lets me bypass the drama and feel empowered instead. I can feel less identified with the situation that needs treatment which also leads to less stress and more potential for positive results.

Using the creative quality of Leo can yield benefits, and benefit is another one of the positive qualities of Leo, more so when our creations are positive, too.

Our Leo lessons may have come in with a bang…and things may taper off a bit when the Sun enters Virgo. I would imagine a new area may capture our attention when fiery Mars enters Leo on September 27^th. There is a potential for activation with Mars in Leo in Mid-late November when Mars has caught up with Jupiter and the Sun is square from Scorpio.

Prompted by the dramatic nature of the continuing division in the astrology community and in this country, and on the day of the Leo Solar Eclipse, I thought it would be a good time to relay what Evolutionary Astrology founder Jeff Green said about knowing the level of consciousness before reading a birth chart.

It’s hard to imagine now, but at the time I studied with him (London School, 1999) Astrology was still considered unusual at best or a crazy idea at worst. Even in the upsurge of astrology and the availability of thousands of readers via the internet, a lot of people still believe that. And this, too, has to do with levels of consciousness.

In 1999 Jeff believed that most of the world population was in the first two to three levels. And this is known as Herd Consciousness.

Level One of Herd Consciousness represents people who may be here on earth for the first or second time. We all start in our root chakra with the need to survive and with level one, this remains the most important thing. They follow what others are saying and doing and don’t question authority. They feel supported by it. They won’t step out of line or contemplate new ideas. They follow the leader and partake in what psychologists have called ‘team mentality.’

In our current age, this is the easiest level to manipulate into following without question and creating and sustaining division.

Level Two of Herd Consciousness has looked around and wanted to improve its circumstances, get a bigger home, buy an upscale car, have some respect, etc... At the same time, it believes it will achieve this if it ‘follows the leader’ in the way they have moved forward.

In our current age, this is the level that is more prone to blame others for the fact that the way forward has changed or is not available to them. They feel their strength through holding onto this attitude, and believe there is power in their anger, especially if the leader encourages this.

These first two levels are unlikely to visit an astrologer or engage in any alternative spiritual or medical experiences.

Level Three of Herd Consciousness may sound surprising but it encompasses those who have found their way through to achieving a far higher status. They are the Boss, the CEO, the leader of a country, or in any position deemed to be at the top of the pyramid in cultural hierarchy. They want things to stay the same and to preserve their position. These people will and do consult astrologers for the purpose of strategy and finding out when they will get what they are after.

In our current age, we see these people maintaining the ways to manipulate the two lower levels and seeking ways to dominate the next levels of consciousness, too. Understanding how the gradual introduction over a long period of time through television and film will bring many things once thought shameful into acceptance. We see how it has changed the landscape of those at the top.

After these first three levels some will begin to think for themselves and enter the Individuated Level of Consciousness. When I asked Jeff about this, he agreed that people can go through levels of consciousness in their life and usually in an upward movement.

For instance, entering the teenage years can cause some to break from the full allegiance to the cultural consensus. And in the sense of Ages, we have seen mass movements into Individuated level occur during recent centuries. This also relates to the discovery of the planet Uranus in Gemini…mind and thought…in the 18^th century. We saw the “discovery” of electricity and several Revolutions occur in the late 1700s. However, not everyone who participated left the Herd, just following new leaders who may have also been in the Herd Consciousness.

Another shift occurred when the Uranus in Gemini generation had their coming of age in the 1960s. And we can expect another one when the babies born with Uranus in Gemini now come of age in the early 2040s.

Level One of Individuated

The crack in the cosmic egg occurs and the thought ‘there’s more out there than what I have learned’ leads to some exploration and break from the family or cultural consensus. However, while they may explore (getting astrology and other readings and taking classes in these and other unusual subjects), at Level One, they may not tell anyone else about it. They still need to feel accepted by the Herd and don’t want to appear too radical and incur rejection. They may gradually grow new friendships with others they’ve met on their exploration.

In our Age, former occult knowledge and exploration of ancestral or other sacred traditions and rituals and previously scoffed-at things like aromatherapy and acupuncture, has become more common and so it is less threatening to their place in society and then Level One Individuated may be a short phase for many.

Level Two Individuated

This is a dangerous place to be for self and others and for most the transition through this level is very brief…just a twinge of anger, maybe, for not being told the truth about things. But for those who embody Level Two anger is their default setting. Their anger against groups or society leads them to destructive behavior from major to minor. Bombers, fire setters, mass shooters, terrorists, would fall into this category. And an Astrologer won’t be consulted. In fact, no one will be as this is a ‘driven’ mode.

I don’t have to tell you that in our Age we have witnessed an accelerated number of people falling into this category.

Level Three Individuated

This is the ‘sweet spot’ where we find many people who open ‘centers’ and have holistic lifestyles of all kinds. They have individuated past the point where they need to defend their ideas, ideals, and lifestyle and can be comfortable ‘in the world but not always of it.’

In our Age we have seen an accelerated number in this category, too. In 1999, Jeff felt the percentage of Herd was about 93% and going further into higher levels, closer to finding a needle in a haystack. I think we have gotten to a point where the numbers of Third Level Individuated have increased enough to bring the Herd percentage down.

But now we come to another level and one that is tricky, too.

Spiritual Consciousness

Level One Spiritual

This is when an individual has a Spiritual interest and/or practice and so this is brought into the daily life. However, in this stage there can be overreliance on teachers and many moving into communities in this spiritual practice…one such is called an Ashram. They aspire to attain but remain believing they aren’t likely to reach the heights of their ‘guru.’ In a way this level is where we can backslide into division between people who believe what we believe and all others, and we may find people working hard to ‘convert’ others to their practice or to follow their teacher.

And now comes what Jeff called the most difficult level of all: Level Two Spiritual

At this point one becomes the Guru (or any other name for a person considered an elevated teacher). It is here that temptation creates a fall, and one that is masked for as long as possible. And it is hard to hear this but literally anyone you can name that has a large following in this way, is in the dangerous fall zone.

The problem is that in this position one can receive all that they want in desires of the world. Fame, money, material luxuries, and women or men as sexual partners. We’ve seen quite a few exposed, but my favorite example is the Temptation of Jesus in the Wilderness. He is offered all these things but says no to it and the phrase, ‘Get Thee behind me Satan,” comes from this meeting.

But those who also deny the temptations go on the Spiritual Level Three. In this self-realized state, there is no longing to have the attention of being known and the other lures of the mind. Jeff said this person is like the person with the flashlight in a theater that helps you find your seat.

And when Jeff was asked if there was anyone whose name was known he mentioned Jesus and we see how Jesus remained unaffected by worldly gain and carried on with his normal level of life. His purpose was not to start a new religion (we did that) but to uplift his own people to see how they could rise in consciousness. We’ll never know but we can imagine that in those ‘lost years’ he may have journeyed to study with Wise Men and bring back their methods of inner contemplation.

My favorite example of this level is The Way of the Peaceful Warrior by Dan Millman. I haven’t read the book but was very impacted by the film. Nick Nolte plays the role of the ‘person with the flashlight’ whose name is not known and who leaves quietly when his work is done.

Jeff said Paramahansa Yogananda came close to this because he didn’t want to become the renowned teacher and was doing as his own teacher told him. I remember reading the story that a rich man came to Yogananda’s California temple and donated a lot of money to fund their newsletter, which was vital to grow the community. When Yogananda noticed the man was getting special attentions from the people in the ashram, he told the man he had to leave. The man was astounded…but how will you fund your newsletter? Yogananda said through faith in God. So, yes, I can understand that he has some of the Third Level Spiritual characteristics.

Jeff Green was not interested in astrology and never wanted to become an astrologer but was downloaded with information while dreaming by Yogananda’s teacher Swami Sri Yukteswar. Evolutionary Astrology, the Journey of the Soul, was quite unusual when it originally appeared and I had been an astrologer for about 25 years when I was given his first book. I had seen him speak twice in Florida and after reading the book, I tried to contact him to ask if he was coming back to Florida to lecture.

Somehow my email reached him as he emailed back and told me about the London School coming in the Spring. I loved England, had lived there for a few years and made two trips back. My immediate response was that I would be there for Part One and I went back for Part Two.

It is no coincidence that on the first trip I would meet the person who gave me the ‘assignment’ to write the story of a Druid Priestess that I published as the Revealing the Druid Legacy series. Pluto is the planet who shows the work of this lifetime. Mine is ruling the house of writing and in the house of secrets and ancestors.

· When the Leo Moon joins the 20 degree Leo Sun at 1:37 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, the the New Moon Total Solar Eclipse arrives. We can do intentions for the next cycle but we need to honor this moment and acknowledge that we will see a change in the outer world, for ourselves and for the collective. · Thursday, Moon enters the waxing 1st Quarter Phase. In this phase we look for places to plant the seeds of our intentions where they will grow. Moon is in the Waxing Crescent Phase. The Moon will remain invisible until a sliver of the crescent appears after sunset in a day or two.

• The Cancer Moon begins the week. Cancer Moon brings the instinct to create a safe space and others who will help us feel secure emotionally, nurturing for both self and others, protecting sensitivity, protecting the nest and the financial nest-egg. • Leo Entry, Tuesday 4:38 a.m. EDT Leo Moon brings the instinct for giving affection, providing, self-expression, creativity, entertainment and receiving attention. Pitfalls: dramatic, demanding, over-spending, attention-seeking.

• Tuesday Mars Enters Cancer at 4:30 a.m. EDT. The Leo Moon has a cascade of aspects starting with a conversation that may be about romance, children, financial investment, and is followed by a challenge from someone who wants freedom to choose for itself. Creativity and a welcome supporter moves us into lunchtime in EDT and humor with insight brings optimism as we move into the later evening hours EDT. There is support for receiving information about how the Solar Eclipse will manifest in outer world change as we move through late night and into the early morning on Wednesday.

• Wednesday Leo Moon joins the Sun at 20 Leo at 1:37 p.m.. We may feel lower energy and relaxation is welcome if possible. We set intentions for the new lunar cycle keeping the Leo issues in mind and with an eclipse and south node in this sign, one intention could be seeing where the negative attention-seeking and desire to be special is holding us back and what the effect of giving and coming from the heart can do to improve our life. • Virgo Entry Thursday at 6:18 a.m. EDT. Virgo Moon brings the instinct to perfect, organize, analyze, stay healthy and serve others. Pitfalls: Over-serving, being critical and judgmental of others and self, strict rules.

• Thursday Virgo Moon completes all the aspects it will make in this sign. The day is amenable to getting work done around the house and having conversations about home and family or making a purchase for bedroom or kitchen until 9:00 a.m. EDT. But as we go on through the day, we are heading for an aspect in the afternoon EDT that will upset Virgo’s careful planning with surprising news and/or change. Virgo Moon is Void of Course for a long stretch of time after this.

• Friday and early Saturday Virgo Moon is Void of Course until it enters Libra. In void of course, Virgo Moon will have no interference in getting office work done and working on the home. But planning ahead more than a day or two is not advised under void of course moon as there will be unforeseen changes in plans. “Nothing will come of it,” is an old void moon aspect phrase.

MARS ENTERS CANCER

Fiery Mars can have lower energy when in any water sign, and this Mars can have difficulty feeling safe if expressing anger. (Of course, having a fire Moon, especially in Aries with this this placement, will not find Mars in Cancer as inhibited in this respect.) They will express anger in situations where others are not present…like driving alone in their car or being alone in the home. And when with others, they will adopt an indirect, strategic way to get their point across or their needs met. *

But Mars will also be passionate about home and family. If these areas are being challenged, Cancer Mars will do what’s needed to defend their territory. In fact, they want to be the one in control of the home, and any visitors need to have an agreed upon time to drop by. Most Mars in Cancer people feel safer in a home on the ground floor. Within the home, the bedroom and kitchen is where they are most active.

Which leads me to say, Mars in Cancer has a strong sex drive which may be a daily activity. Mars in Cancer can also have a passion for cooking and food in general. However, although they may like it, spicy food can irritate as the heat of Mars in Cancer already affects the sensitive mucous membranes of the digestive system. Repressed anger can also inflame the stomach.

Mars in Cancer may also be prone to sinus irritation and other inflammations in or near the mouth.

Since Cancer is the sign of the people of a country, Mars here can be strongly patriotic and expect others to be so, too. They like to have a large and secret nest egg, enough to see them through any eventuality.

During this transit we may also opt to take an indirect approach in situations and shy away from direct confrontations. While in Cancer, Mars will make or receive easy aspects to planets in Scorpio or Pisces, Taurus or Virgo. Stress aspects come with conjunctions to planets in Cancer and oppositions to those in Capricorn.

The house in the birth chart with this transit will be a place of greater activity but also potential argument. Homebuying, home improvements or buying for the home may also be accelerated.

Mars will be in Cancer until it enters Leo on September 27^th.

*Note: people may call this ‘passive aggressive’ behavior but that is more properly known as a psychological diagnosis where the individual has unconsciously chosen to put their unacceptable feelings of anger a compartment of the mind where the anger plots and creates the irritation of another. This compartment is not known to the individual and that is why they react with denial and hurt when accused of doing something upsetting. It can be true of certain people with Mars in Cancer, but it is not true for all of them…and the psychological issue is not limited to any sign.

20 DEGREE LEO NEW MOON—TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE

I posted an article on this event which has information and an attempt to find a good image for the many areas of the world that will be able to view the totality and the partial shadow.

If you have been reading my posts, you know I am not a fan of being under and Eclipse, Solar or lunar, and I note the house where it occurs and aspects it makes in the birth chart.

Aspects from 20 Leo will be easy with planets in Aries, Sagittarius, Gemini and Libra. More difficulty arises with planets in Taurus, Scorpio and Aquarius. And whatever aspects you have, we all have the south node transiting in Leo until March of 2028. We start on our serious lessons about the less attractive aspects of Leo along with the emphasis on the issues brought by the Leo Eclipse.

The Solar Eclipse influences conditions and circumstances of the outer world: cultural agreements and traditions, corporations, government, achievements and reputations. This brings a noticeable change we may view as negative or positive for ourselves and the collective. They have an orb of influence of up to 6 months.

If we have been paying attention, the change may not be a surprise. And the old saying, when one door closes another door opens, is appropriate here. Every end is followed by a new beginning.

Entering the Retrograde Cycle of the Solar Year

We have Pluto retrograde, Neptune and Saturn retrograde. Uranus retrogrades on September 10^th, Venus on October 3^rd, Mercury again on October 24^th and finally Jupiter on December 12^th.

The largest number of planets in retrograde will be when 5 are retrograding at the same time:

1. When Venus, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are retrograde (Pluto for 12 days but goes direct on Oct. 15th).

2. When Mercury retrogrades again on October 24th, with Venus, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune retrograde.

The last few days I have been reading on Facebook about a controversy aimed at one of the Big Names in the Astrological Community. It had to do with an interview where this Author, Educator and Practitioner happened to say the ‘n’-word. The issue is the context, but those who were offended were not interested in that. And the interview was with a close friend who is a Black man and who put together another video of the two, apologizing and saying there was no racist content involved.

This was also not good enough. That word was out there and should never be heard again. I don’t disagree. But the esteemed teacher was dropped from a Conference Roster. People who haven’t seen the interview or the apology chimed in with their opinion and I refrained from commenting (I know him only on a ‘say hello at a conference level’ so I had nothing to add to either support or further denigrate his character…and I didn’t see the original interview).

Pluto in Aquarius and the Celestial Basket

My first thoughts were about Pluto in Aquarius, Uranus in Gemini, Neptune in Aries – the astro-ingredients of that special basket.

Pluto in Aquarius was the first outer planet shift on the scene. It has demonstrated the truth of how in every planet and aspect combination, the potential for a positive and/or negative quality will be present.

At the beginning the ‘Special-Seekers’ describing the combination had stars of another kind in their eyes and proclaimed the New Age has come with Power To the People. We have seen that power work in certain instances, but we have also seen the opposite pole: Power Over the People.

Not long after Pluto entered the sign of Astrology we had the first and only divisive battle in the astrological community I know of: The extremely dramatic and divisive controversy over House Systems. ‘My way is better than your way.’ (Has a childlike ring to it.) And it went so far as to find people claiming theirs was ‘the way, the truth and the light.’ All I would add to any comments on those posts--which had gotten many unfriended and blocked--was that I’m keeping mine since I have used it with good results for over 50 years. But I didn’t insist everyone else use the house system that many (most) astrologers of my era originally learned and practiced.

Now Aquarius Pluto forms part of the basket, with the Aquarius ruler, Uranus in Gemini, the sign of words, communications and Neptune in Aries which can be anger from people who have been hurt and negated. To heat things up a bit, Mars entered Gemini and when Mars joined the Gemini degree where Uranus was discovered, the gun went off and the second controversy in Astrology begins. It contained a shocking comment that was known as a racial slur and the resulting anger from the offended showed how Power over Astrology had the ability to topple someone with a powerful position in Astrology. People said they will no longer buy or recommend his books. I guess this basket isn’t always positive in its expression.

The Quality of Prejudice

Where I got involved was when the subject of prejudice was being discussed. They said this person was a racist and prejudiced against this community otherwise he would have known better than to utter this word. And then I see a comment from a younger, unknown to me astrologer saying: we should understand that this happened because the astrologer is ‘an old man’ and that all older people are less tolerant. They become babies who just say whatever they want to say.

I didn’t answer him but on another comment thread I asked if prejudice was always wrong as I saw someone express prejudice against all elders. Some discussion ensued and I was told that younger, non-white astrologers, were on Threads saying how they hated the Boomers.

Boomer bashing has become a big pastime, and I feel it shows a lack of understanding history, especially the era of the 1960s and 70s. Maybe they don’t know Boomers were in the front row of new thinking, new music, the anti-war and other movements for rights they now enjoy. It’s also putting people in an ‘all of them’ category. And that is called Ageism and is a prejudice all its own. But apparently this one is okay to have and doesn’t offend or hurt anyone. Or if it does, we don’t care.

But I also think we are in a time of instant experts. They haven’t had the time to realize that “Knowledge Plus Experience Is Wisdom.” * The response to this prejudicial attitude is gaining traction and someone plans to bring the growing Ageism issue to the Astrology Board of Ethics now…oh, dear.

My first post about the life of a Boomer, It’s About Age, tells of a positive experience, which is what I usually have, when I relate to younger people. I don’t put all the generations I’ve known in the same basket as those individuals involved in the current Astrological controversy.

And I believe that if we want people to have power in this New Era**, we must unite, not divide. Even as a Founding Father of the US said, “United we stand, divided we fall.” We must be aware of those who promote prejudice, fear, and division and remember the result that comes from this and not be swayed.

On Wednesday, August 12^th at 1:37 p.m. EDT the waning Moon joins the Sun at 20 Leo. This New Moon is also a Total Solar Eclipse. A New Moon is generally a time when we set intentions for what we want to transform or release, and what we would like to seed as goals for the coming month. And we can look at doing that, with focus on the Leo areas of creativity, self-expression, romance, entertainment, children and investment. But this time we are dealing with the configuration of Moon passing between the earth and Sun, blocking the face of the Sun for those who are in certain areas.

And the orb of influence for an eclipse is up to 6 months. Those with direct connections to 20 Leo or major aspects to that location will generally feel the effects sooner than others, but with the Solar Eclipse we will all experience a change in the outer world, both personally and collectively.

As I said in the Moondays Report for the week ending on August 9^th, this week before the event is a good time to ponder what might be ready to release and transform in your outer life. The house of the birth chart where the eclipse falls and aspects it creates may give more clues. While the idea of change is not always welcome, you might find a change coming that will be beneficial in certain ways, too. And if not, there is a reason for the experience to arrive on your path in life.

Where the Eclipse is Seen

The locations on earth where the shadow of the total eclipse can be seen will be areas where notable changes and sometimes dramatic changes will take place. They have done studies where they found a change in the magnetic field at this time. And that accounts for the difference in behavior we may see in the animal kingdom. Birds, for instance, won’t be flying or making sounds.

After many years observing the maps that show the path of an eclipse visibility, particularly a total solar eclipse, I have seen time after time how the area under this shadow will have significant events take place. In the ancient days, it was considered unlucky to be under the shadow and it was believed to herald the ‘death of the king’ as the Sun and the sign of Leo are both representing authority and royalty.

This chart gives the places and the times the Eclipse begins, then the time of Totality, and then when the Sun begins to reemerge and finally when the Eclipse is over.

Seeing the Partial Eclipse

The places where the Partial Eclipse can be observed are too many to name and while a map is usually best, this eclipse has an unusual path and covers too much area to be seen clearly in an image that can fit onto the page. The one below from Wikipedia is the smallest image I could find. But I will say parts of Canada and US cities from Philadelphia, PA through NYC, Boston and more will have some of the energy affecting them over the next 6 months. Major Cities in Europe, like Berlin, Lisbon, London and Scandinavia and Eastern Europe are included. However, NASA has a video that is a better way to see what will happen.

The Astrology of the Eclipse Chart

The Astrological Chart for this event is also quite interesting. We find many ‘exact aspects’:

· Mars conjunct Ceres at 0 Cancer,

· Mars and Ceres are in exact sextile to Chiron in 0 Taurus.

· Venus in Libra in exact trine to Uranus at 5 Gemini.

· Another’ basket or cradle’ forms from the exact sextile of both Venus and Uranus to Mercury at 5 Leo.

The Chart and the Current Issues in the US and Around the World.

The current world emphasis on food production and consumer activity is also seen by the Mars Ceres conjunction…and their relationship to Chiron in Taurus as the wound of high prices and the geophysical issues with drought, flooding and fires causing food deprivation.

Cancer is also the sign of home and family, and the interest rate for loans is making it hard for people to buy and maintain homes, while the unregulated cost of renting does not make that a good alternative. The rise of Democratic Socialism and their candidates winning elections is not as scary as it sounds…social security is socialism, not communism…and seen by the Libra Venus Trine to Uranus in Gemini and the sextile to Mercury in Leo which can signify inspired thoughts of creating laws that would counteract these issues and create greater care and stability for children and investments.

Six months from now in the US we will have seen what happens in midterm elections while the investigations of fraud in 2024 are now involving the investigation of trillionaire Elon Musk. His would be a chart to look at for this time. A quick glance shows his Cancer Sun being squared by Neptune (what secret comes to light) and his Mars at 20 Aquarius is being opposed by the Eclipse conjunction at 20 Leo. (His activity on electronic media is under question.)

The major issue for #47 at this point is the negative, Saturn-effect of the south node spending a long time on his Ascendant and moving toward his Mars. And this south node at 29 Leo is conjunct the midheaven for the chart set for Washington, DC, one of the places we see the partial shadow.

We have the negative polarity for Leo the cost of gilded statues going up on the roadway in DC while the citizens suffer from the economic situation. When the south node hits his Mars, we may find him escalating warlike behavior. That’s what happened after the August 2017 total solar eclipse occurred and was on his Mars.

Pluto is conjunct the Sun of Mike Johnson, Speaker of the House, who is coming under a lot of pressure due to recent happenings in Congress. The transiting nodes are squaring his natal Saturn at 29 Taurus and Venus will move along in Libra to join his Uranus and then oppose his Mars in Aries so we may see destabilization and difficulties in his position of authority in the House.

Many others, especially in the countries under total shadow, will find dramatic issues in aspects to their charts during this Eclipse. But this is a good sample for some under the partial shadow here in the US.

In the old days they said, “The Moon Tells the Tale.” It is told in the aspects the Moon makes as it moves quickly through each sign. In daily forecasts, the Moon’s sign and phase colors the mood of the day and what activities are supported.

About Your Personal Moon

Knowing the Moon Sign and Phase at birth is helpful as this combination describes your instinctive feelings and responses to the environment. And this also lets you know when you will have a personal Monthly Lunar Return when the Moon returns to the degree and sign it was in at birth. Those charts can be very helpful for planning ahead and understanding the focus for that timeframe.

When someone books a reading with me, I always look at where the Moon will be during the reading to get information about the client’s most important issue.

In progressions to your birth chart, we will find your Moon is in a different sign, phase and location. This is also good to know as it shows deeper and longer lasting effects. · Thursday, we enter the waning 4th Quarter Phase. In this phase we make choices about what has to change or be released and what we would like to seed as goals for the new lunar phase. Moon is in the Waning Crescent Phase.

· NOTE: we are moving toward a New Moon Solar Eclipse at 20 Leo on Wednesday August 12^th. Change is on the way in the outer world for our lives and for the collective. We feel harmony both within and in relationship to others through lunchtime. (EDT). But the Moon moves on toward a frustrating obstacle to activity in the evening and another difficult aspect arrives on Tuesday (EDT).

· Tuesday Aries Moon begins the day with an impatient quarrel when someone blocks the way with their emotional needs. The day goes on to an adventurous experience and interesting conversation about many ideas. Moon enters a long Void of Course phase until it enters Taurus.

· Taurus Entry Tuesday at 10:35 p.m. EDT. Taurus Moon brings the instinctive need for acquisition, preservation, sensory experience, strength and grounding. Pitfalls: stubborn, possessive, tight-fisted with money, resistance to change.

· Tuesday Taurus Moon does not complete an aspect though we may feel tension from the coming conjunction to retrograde Chiron in Taurus as a challenge to our values and self-worth.

· Wednesday Taurus Moon has a day of challenges which may all center around values and how to spend or invest money. The fixed signs are active and that means the challenge will not be resolved as neither side surrenders. When the Taurus Moon squares the Sun in Leo at 10:21 p.m. EDT, the 3^rd quarter Lunar Phase at the waning Half Moon.

· Thursday Taurus Moon rebounds as a Taurus ruler, Venus, enters her other sign of domicile, Libra, at 3:13 p.m. EDT and the Moon moves on to have a pleasant day with compatible company for dinner (EDT). Moon is Void of Course until it enters Gemini.

· Gemini Entry, Friday, 2:08 a.m. EDT. . Gemini Moon brings the instinctive need for communication, questioning, information gathering, flexibility, and movement. Pitfalls: worry, overthinking, distraction, flighty behavior, boredom.

· Friday Gemini Moon has an easy time, flying free through the early morning and breakfast. But not long after a surprising change or bit of information arrives. There can also be a big intuitive download at this time. It seems the news is good as we go on through the day, having beneficial connections through the late afternoon and a sense of grounded direction through the evening and overnight. (EDT).

EDT Cancer Moon brings the instinct to create a safe space and others who will help us feel secure emotionally, nurturing for both self and others, protecting sensitivity, protecting the nest and the financial nest-egg. · Sunday Cancer Moon feels challenged by someone’s indecisions and second-guessing the Moon’s desires during the breakfast hour in EDT. Some confusion or weather delays can be frustrating after this, and we experience a change in our thoughts and conversations—a shift into a more dramatic mode as Mercury enters Leo near midday (EDT) and causes Caner Moon to feel vulnerable. In such times Cancer’s first thought is to retreat inside her shell. We sense an obstacle that may be a confrontation in the early house on Monday (EDT).

VENUS ENTERS LIBRA

On Thursday, August 6^th at 3:13 p.m. EDT, the goddess of love, Venus, enters a sign of her domicile, Libra. Here, she becomes one of the Venus archetypes we know well: Charming and lovely, she values relationship and harmony most of all. And a way to create harmony is to create an attractive, peaceful atmosphere in all situations. She loves to dress in flattering clothes, accessorize, and acquire beautiful objects. And yes, this applies to men with this signature, too.

Finding a significant other or contractual partner is a primary goal. This involves making a choice, which is not her strong suit as she can see the benefits and lack thereof for most situations. Achieving a balance and seeking truth are other goals which can help her narrow down the potential.

This Venus is the blindfolded goddess holding the scales of justice. She must go within to find truth and justice, which she may also apply. Long conversations on interesting topics, trips to art galleries, the theater, and boutiques are favored pursuits. In restaurants, the décor and atmosphere will attract her more than the menu.

Libra rules the kidneys and the area of the midriff and waist. All areas of the body are considered when spending on clothing for this Venus but spending on accessories may include a fine belt to accentuate a trim waist. For beauty, she will spend on treatments and cosmetics and for pleasure and relief, a massage, mani-pedi or spa treatment will be welcome.

She will spend but keeps a good balance in the savings and checking accounts. She can mix well with many people, despite her personal likes or dislikes, and makes a great ambassador. If other things in the chart support this, she can also make a good lawyer who can see all the sides and angles. But she may opt for a career in decorating or the arts.

The house where Libra Venus transits in your birth chart will be a place to find love and money. If it is in the first or 10^th house, you will find you have more compliments on your appearance than usual.

This year Libra Venus activates the special basket/cradle formation:

· Venus trines rx Pluto in Aquarius on August 10^th, bringing a good time for discussion about the future.

· Then she spends 4 hours opposing rx Neptune in Aries, and choosing activities seem to go on forever, as do debates about past actions kept secret.

· Venus receives insights and flows with surprising change as it sextiles Uranus in Gemini on the 11th.

· Mercury in Leo will sextile Venus in Libra on Thursday, the 13th and bring a day with potential for romance, flirtation, or charming conversations and entertainment events.

· Venus sextile Jupiter in Leo may bring a financial windfall and/or fun with someone planning future activities.

· On Friday August 21^st Venus will hit the first opposition to her ideas and feelings as she opposes rxSaturn in Aries. Trying to warm this cold shoulder will not succeed.

· On the 31^st, the energy repeats but this time with more emotion when the Aries Moon opposes Libra Venus.

Venus is slowing down now and will have no other aspects until September 9^th when the Leo Moon bids her a fond farewell, maybe over a pleasant meal.

On the 10^th Venus will enter the fixed water sign, Scorpio. This is the sign of her retrograde this year that begins on October 3^rd. A discussion of this process and its meanings will be coming in September.

MERCURY ENTERS LEO

From sentimental to romantic, secretive to dramatic, we’ll make those transitions in thoughts and conversations when Mercury leaves Cancer and enters Leo on August 9^th at 12:28 p.m. EDT.

Financial investment, entertainment, activities, sports, romance, children—these are some of the topics that will come to the foreground. Mercury in Leo can be entertaining but may also reveal where his loyalty lies.

In some cases, this Mercury will take a dramatic stand in the spotlight. In others, there is less willingness to act or reveal, and like a gambler, keeps his cards close to his chest.

This Mercury could be found in sports that use the arms and hands, from ping pong to tennis to getting holes in one on the green. They might write love letters and/or dramatic reprisals. They might read romance novels and/or the financial page in the Times.

Try to push your opinions on Leo Mercury and you will be met with stonewall silence. Keep pushing and you’ll learn how loud a lion can roar. Or you may get the chance to hear that when Mercury opposes Pluto on the 11^th, a day before the Leo New Moon Solar Eclipse. A trine to Neptune in Aries soon has Leo Mercury dreaming better dreams.

Shortly after the eclipse intuitive flashes can stir the creative side of Mercury in Leo and a sextile to Venus in Libra will make the 13^th pleasant and potentially romantic.

We have Pluto retrograde, Neptune and Saturn retrograde. Uranus retrogrades on September 10^th, Venus on October 3^rd, Mercury again on October 24^th and finally Jupiter on December 12^th.

The largest number of planets in retrograde will be when 5 are retrograding at the same time:

1. Venus, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are retrograde (Pluto for 12 days but goes direct on Oct. 15th).

2. Mercury retrogrades again on October 24th, with Venus, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune retrograde.

First some current events: I seems I have found a way out of the fact that Substack voiceover wasn’t working. I will make the first upload of an mp3 link that they say will also work. I’ll find out…and if it doesn’t playback well, then Substack will have some ‘splainin to do and not through its Chatbot. The Bot wants me to use Edge but how can a platform with a vast number of contributors expect all to be on a certain browser to achieve results? (If you have an answer please tell me.)

And so, on I go to write the topic that stirred me today as we once again find ourselves contemplating “The Lion’s Gate” on the “special” seeking social media.

Welcome August

I guess the first thing I want to say is that you will read a lot of things that will create the impression that we are all Egyptians and the Lion’s Gate will take us to enormous heights of experience, consciousness, and achievement. I hope that works for you.

But you must wait for the 8/8, which is day two of the Cross Quarter Gate in Leo. And it could help to remember that 8/8 is brought to us courtesy of the Gregorian Calendar. And that is a double power number.

Add the #1 of 2026 and to the 8/8 of the day and we get 8=8=1=8 another 8 for this day this year, which is a number that focuses on the world and completions. Next year when we add a 2, it will be a 9 year and that’s what I mistakenly said was this year on the recording.

And in the Celtic Agricultural Calendar, this Gate marks the midpoint (15 degrees) of the Fixed Sign of Leo. We are in the waning of the Solar cycle, and the Leo Gate is the entry into Autumn. Our current seasons arriving at solstice and equinox are also brought to you by the Gregorian Calendar as it seemed simpler to this Pope. The calendar celebration is August 1^st; the midpoint arrives between the 7^th and 8^th.

Yes, the pyramids make a Celestial Alignment which they are pretty much constantly doing. However, Pyramid energy is not just in Egypt, and some say they are generators and receivers for their own area and may spread it along some ley lines to others. Maybe Egypt should tone theirs down this year as they just got hit in the war going off like firecrackers in the Middle East.

This is not your normal August. Pray that it’s not the New Normal.

And ‘Fire” in the time of this fixed fire sign is the word of the moment. Especially, at this point in the Northern Hemisphere where fires are proliferating and some of the agricultural losses are happening at the time of the First Harvest—The Harvest of the Grains. In Ireland, you call this festival Lughnasa or in the Roman Church, Lammas.

I spoke to a Native American teacher when I was gathering information for a talk on the Elements and Relating to Weather. Fire had me stumped. And he said that this was the hardest element to work with. Its actions can surprise you and catch you off guard.

This seems to be true at this moment in time. Unusual heat domes, fueling massive storms, for it is the Fire element working within the Air element that creates movement of the winds and the circulating of a tornado or hurricane. Fire element causes the water to rise into the air, where it cools until fire turns cold crystals into water that gets released in hopefully helpful ways. And the heat is also drying up water, including some major sources we in the US rely on.

The Ancestral Festival

This traditional Festival is a Fire ceremony honoring the Sun (Lugh is the ‘God’ in Ireland) and the gifts it bestows on human life. The Grains provide the “Staff of Life” as they will be used as flour to both make ‘our daily bread’ but can also be stored in quantities that can help feed the community through the winter.

And this suits the sign of Leo as it is ruled by the Sun and has the essence of the Father who provides for his family. The preservation will come during the sign of Virgo, the Goddess of Grains. But some of those grain fields have burned. Others are feeling the lack of water and have dried up.

This holiday celebrated another effect of the Sun—life, health, power. There were games and contests of strength and talents: the indigenous World Cup or Olympics. And there were bonfires and joyous dancing around them. The creative energy of songs sung and stories told. And all this suits the creative self-expression quality of Leo as well as the tendency to seek attention and praise.

But not many would want to dance around a fire now and lighting them in drought areas is dangerous. Someone did this in the beautiful West Country of England and destructive fires resulted in destroying a wide area of “England’s green and pleasant land.” *

The South Node Leo

And this year we also have the Evolutionary Purpose of elevating the South Node Leo and moving toward the North Node in Aquarius (see my post) So what should we do on this year’s Lion’s Gate? If we can raise our consciousness from the negative Leo trait of self-aggrandizement to the positive Aquarius North Node quality of community and caring for all, of equality and visioning the future, receiving intuition we act on as we move ahead. Then, we used the power of the Lion’s Gate well.

In Matthew Fox’s writing on Creation Spirituality**, we are now in the Via Transformativa, the last of the four Vias before we move into Positiva again at the Equinox. Transformation is happening and we must face it and do our best to infuse this with understanding, learning, and practicing positive vision and techniques that strengthen our body, mind, and spirit.

When we align ourselves this way, this energy spreads. We can also send a positive energy (I often use color, i.e. green energy healing love, violet light for peace and protection) to others or into the emotional and mental matrix of an area or of the world. In this energy work, transformation is seen as healing occurs.

August Eclipses

This August brings two Eclipses:

· The Solar at 20 Leo on August 12^th when we will see a change in the outer world for ourselves and the collective, which may have much to do with Leo qualities in the evolutionary lesson.

· The Lunar Eclipse at 4 Pisces (the prior north node) that brings a change in feelings and relationships on August 28 EDT and 27^th PDT. Lean into our visions, our spiritual food, our compassion.

We will move from this Gate toward a greater focus on harmony, balance and relationship at the Equinox in Libra. (September 22nd).

This is a reshare of an earlier post and if you want to listen to it, the voiceover in the archived post seems to be working normally while my current voiceovers are not…the problem has not been solved, I’m sorry to say. Not even a tech seemed able to do that. We will see what happens in the future. But I hope you will enjoy and get some ideas from the post below.

I live in part of the southeast US that has been covered by the widespread extreme Heat Dome. When possible most of us stayed inside with the AC. It was almost like another Covid-lockdown.

Last Thursday, I went out to pick up my mail in midafternoon. The heat had an unusual quality; I thought if I stayed out too long I would literally be baked. Back inside, I looked at the weather and the heat index had reached 112 degrees.

Now I know what that feels like. And while AC is truly a life saver, even indoors this heat takes water out of us. It saps energy, and we need to hydrate more. In addition, extreme heat can cause stress, and difficulty sleeping. We would benefit from ways to lighten our spirits and feel relaxed and refreshed.

I had read a great post by on The Plant-Based Grandma’s Substack, where she gave refreshing cold (non-alcoholic) drink recipes and Tuesday’s post Too Hot to Cook? has cool, vegetable-based foods.

But to lift spirits, remove stress, encourage sleep and experience a sense of coolness, an Aromatherapist like me would think: Essential Oils that have cooling and relaxing effects.

Ways To Use Essential Oil Blends for Heat Relief

• They can be diffused (air spray or electronic diffuser).

• Some can be blended in carrier oil (I like fractionated coconut) and applied to the skin.

• For a greater sense of cooling, put drops into a teaspoon of Witch Hazel and/or Aloe Juice and add to a mister bottle of distilled water.

• You can spray the blend around your aura field* or lightly mist onto neck and lower arms (being careful to choose non-irritant essences).

A List of Suggested Essential Oils

· The first cooling essential oil that comes to mind is Peppermint (Mentha x piperita). The high menthol content of this essence brings a cooling sensation to the skin. It can be used in a carrier oil with Lavender, the calming pain-reliever which is famous for use on actual burns (sunburn included). Peppermint also has a clarifying effect on the mind.

· Next, I think of Citrus Oils: particularly Lemon**(Citrus limon) and Lime** (Citrus aurantifolia) They bring memories of refreshing summer drinks, while, like Peppermint, their bright aromas have a cooling and clarifying effect on the mind.

· Grapefruit (Citrus paradisi) essential oil is known to uplift the spirits. Sweet Orange (Citrus sinensis) has many properties, including help for digestion and anxiety relief, and on my list now for its beneficial effect on insomnia.

For more cooling:

· Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus globulus) is cooling, and my help repel annoying bugs and protect against summer colds or clear congestion. Eucalyptus also clears the ‘congested’ mind.

· Rose (Rosa centifolia) is a cooling, hydrating floral that also balances emotions and eases tension. It’s best used in a blend for the skin or perfume.

Because it is quite expensive, we don’t usually put Rose in diffusion blends. Fortunately, it has a strong, lasting aroma and fewer drops are needed.

For more anxiety relief:

· Geranium (Pelargonium graveolens) is a sweet note that brings balance physiologically and emotionally. It can help relieve anxiety and it carries a rose-like aroma.

· I’d use Patchouli (Pogostemon cablin) for a base note to ground and hold a blend. It is calming and helpful with irritation on the skin, too.

For Promoting Sleep:

· Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) is famous for this and for the mentioned pain relief and soothing burns.

· Sweet Marjoram (Origanum majorana) is another powerful relaxant and just a drop can put the body into a receptive mode for sleep.

Blending Essential Oils

Of course, you can use some of your favorites with the ones I listed but avoid the spices and circulation stimulants, like rosemary, as they are warming.

Use your sense of smell to select aromas you like. Use them individually or create a blend of several.

If you are creating a blend, you may want to put all the drops into a small brown or green glass dropper bottle. Misters and plastic flip top bottles are available in a 1 oz size.

Suggested Blends:

Daytime

Lemon 8 drops

Geranium 8 drops

Peppermint 4 drops

This blend creates 20 drops or 1 ml. You would need to use fewer drops (4 could be enough) of the blend in an electronic diffuser.

7-10 drops of the blend could be used in an ounce of carrier oil for skin application. And you would need the whole ml for a 1 oz mister bottle.

Evening

Lavender 8 drops

Orange 8 drops

Marjoram 4 drops

This blend also creates 20 drops or 1 ml.

It can be diffused (4 drops into tap water in an electronic diffuser)

Or applied to neck and chest--10 drops in 1 ounce of carrier.

Blending Larger Amounts

If you want to make the blend for skin applications or misters and would like to make a larger amount, you can make 5 mls (100 drops) by multiplying the drop numbers in those blends by 5.

20 drops=1ml

4x5=20=1ml plus 8x 5=40 drops = 2mls (x2 essences)=4 mls =5 mls

You can find a 10 ml calibrated test tube to make it easier.

*IMPORTANT NOTE: Most lemon and lime oils are cold pressed from the peel. These are fine for room diffusion. But If you plan to use these citrus oils on the skin, find those labeled FCC or BF both of which indicate they have been steam distilled to remove bergapten and furocoumarins. Those chemical components cause phototoxicity when exposed to sunlight. The phototoxic effect on the skin is an uncomfortable rash that takes a long time to heal.

**To cover the aura field, aim the mister bottle up, toward the area above the top of your head, spray once or twice and circle clockwise under the falling mist.

As I finish writing this post, I’m happy to see the weather forecast moving us slowly out from under the Heat Dome and some sporadic rain is on the way. Outdoor life can begin again! But there’s still plenty of time left to use the cooling essential oils.

I’m sorry there was no Wednesday post. And this is not the substitute, but one will post today. I have had trouble with the voiceovers and a tech was at my home checking out my microphone on my almost new Vivobook.

I was told by Substack help (they are very quick and good with that feature) to choose a different browser and I tried to do that today but the loop doesn’t work unless I set up a new account.

A focus on the Moon is appropriate for understanding the flow of the week’s energy. In the old days they said, “The Moon Tells the Tale.” It is told in the aspects the Moon makes as it moves quickly through each sign. In daily forecasts, the Moon’s sign and phase colors the mood of the day and what activities are supported.

About Your Personal Moon

Knowing the Moon Sign and Phase at birth is helpful as this combination describes your instinctive feelings and responses to the environment. And this also lets you know when you will have a personal Monthly Lunar Return when the Moon returns to the degree and sign it was in at birth. Those charts can be very helpful for planning ahead and understanding the focus for that timeframe.

When someone books a reading with me, I always look at where the Moon will be during the reading to get information about the client’s most important issue.

In progressions to your birth chart, we will find your Moon is in a different sign, phase and location. This is also good to know as it shows deeper and longer lasting effects. AQUARIUS FULL MOON

At 6 degrees Aquarius, when this Full Moon arrives at 10:36 a.m. EDT on Wednesday the 29^th (an 11 as Aquarius is the 11^th sign) it has just been through its aspects with the famous ‘basket’ of Pluto, Neptune and Uranus, opposing Jupiter. The sweeping feeling of change comes to a head in a noticeable way. And while Aquarius is a cool and detached fixed Air sign, there are still feelings about these changing times that can’t be ignored or denied.

On the Sunday before the Full Moon, Saturn, the old ruler of Aquarius, went retrograde in Aries and the lunar nodes shifted into south node Leo and north node Aquarius. The Full Moon is in synchronicity with the new direction for our evolution and simply put, it is moving toward community and away from focus on our own personal desires (Leo Sun). I have posted an article on the nodal shift which will give you all the details.

We still have almost all the heavenly bodies within 180 degrees or half the zodiac circle. And at the Full Moon, the beginning and end of that arc is Leo to Aquarius. Only one planet, Venus in Virgo, and one Centaur, Pholus stands apart.

In the chart set for Washington, DC, the Ascendant is at 29 Virgo. Venus is in the hidden 12^th house at 21 degrees in an exact approaching square to Mars at 21 Gemini. Apart from order, analysis, and perfection, Virgo indicates health and here in the US there is a stealth report (Neptune and Saturn retrograde in the house of law) that revealed (Pholus in Capricorn, the lid comes off re government and corporations) how AI companies have been given jurisdiction in several states over whether or not a Medicare applicant can receive the treatments a physician had indicated are necessary. Another aspect of this is that the company (AI) is rewarded for every expenditure it stops from happening.

Mars in Gemini is already on the warpath with this information and seniors must find a way to deal with this and the coming attack on social security benefits (not a government gift, but an account paid into during the decades of working life). This fear and those for all of us from climate events, economics and war, mean we need ways to stay grounded and optimistic. The Sun and Jupiter in the 11^th house in Leo can help with that when we find ourselves with loving and optimistic friends.

The Full Moon is conjunct retrograde Pluto which intensifies the energy of feelings and creates a need to do something about fear, and the power over a collective group in this unseen electronic way. The Sun in Leo conjunct Jupiter in the 11^th house (the luminaries are also in the house the other rules) which could bring help and attention to this collective group, but also favors those who are making money from investing in this AI attribute.

In our individual lives, we have the Full Moon polarity of independence versus loyalty, my kingdom versus the collective spanning two houses of our birth chart. There you will find the place where this polarity brings up a fruition point. It is a time of harvest and revelations. Mercury remains in Cancer as it gets up to speed after going direct. Sentiment, home, and family have recently overcome an obstacle, and Mercury is moving to a moment of truth when it squares two asteroids in Aries; Pallas Athena, goddess of wisdom and war, and Vesta, who keeps the hearth fire going and will fight for what is most important.

Mars is moving toward Ceres, the fierce mother protector, and we will see what is most important for us soon. We are in the waning cycle of the year, approaching the moment of Equinox when we will choose what (and who) has been healthy and supportive, and what or who brings negativity and needs to be released.

Eclipses are also on the way in August. We’ll soon be looking at the first on August 12^th, at the 20 degree Leo New Moon. This foretells a change in the outer world.

LAMMAS/LUGHNASA FESTIVAL

I was early with this information last week because the Sun entered Leo. Now it is applicable to the entry into August on Saturday.

The Sun in Leo marks the time when we have the First Harvest (Harvest of the Grains) which is a Fire celebration, like the Midsummer Solstice. Observance of the festival takes place on the calendar as August 1st and the 7-8 is the actual cross-quarter at the midpoint (15 degrees) of this Fixed Fire sign. Those who celebrate at the nearest Full Moon would use the lunar event on the 29^th. For ancestral agriculture, this harvest was the one they could preserve, and a hearty crop would assure them of food through the winter.

Autumn was said to begin under at the festival during this Fire Sign and we will see the Leo colors of gold and orange on the leaves as time goes on. The house where this transit takes place will hold strength, courage, and loyalty, while the Sunlight will also reveal things that should be seen.

The Sun is in Leo until it moves to the sign of the Goddess of Grains, Virgo, on August 22^nd.

Entering the Retrograde Cycle of the Solar Year

We have Pluto retrograde, Mercury retrograde, and Neptune went retrograde on July 7^th. Saturn retrogrades on July 26^th. Uranus retrogrades on September 10^th, Venus on October 3^rd, Mercury again on October 24^th and finally Jupiter on December 12^th.

The largest number of planets in retrograde will be when 5 are retrograding at the same time:

1. Mercury retrogrades again on October 24th, with Venus, Saturn Uranus, Neptune

2. Venus, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are retrograde (Pluto for 12 days but goes direct on Oct. 15th).

First I apologize for not having a voiceover for this post…I recorded one and when I listened to the play back, it started to speed up. Not sure why…will have to investigate.

I had been an Astrologer for over 30 years when a realization finally arrived about an astrological technique that not all practitioners believe in or use. But I know there is merit and always consider this now because it showed up in a dramatic way when I moved up to South Carolina.

The basic astrology information to know is that each house of the birth chart has a sign on its cusp (or doorway). The planet that rules the sign on the cusp gives information about how you relate to the issues of the house itself. We also look at the house that planet is in (as well as planets in that house) for more clues.

An example would be seeing the ruler of the 6th (work) or 10th (career) house in the 4th of the home. This could suggest a person who will work from their home (or their work will have to do with home and family). The house where the ruler of the 2nd house of personal money and possessions is located (and the sign it is in) indicates a way that person can make and spend money.

In my example, we are looking at a shift of houses that represented me. For more basic information, the ‘person’ houses are 3 (siblings, neighbors, lower school classmate), 4 (family, parent), 5 (child, romance), 6 (co-workers or employees), 7 (contractual partners), 9 (in-laws, 10 (boss, parent) and11 (friends and community members).

A close friend had moved to the foothills area of South Carolina. I had wanted to leave south Florida but couldn’t decide on the location and then on my second visit to see this friend, I was at a waterfall that ‘called my name.’ And I knew I would relocate to this area.

I had come up on another brief visit to look around but that weekend had me discouraged and I wasn’t sure of my financial situation. My friend suggested I sell my condo and I could come and stay with her till I found a home to buy. It was a generous offer and as it turned out, the famous real estate bubble of 2005 came in and it was definitely time to sell. I moved to SC just over 3 months later.

My things were in storage nearby and I moved into her guest bedroom. There were no incidents and we seemed compatible but she started to change in a significant way. It seemed as though most of what I said was contradicted and I could have said something about the clear blue sky and she would have said, ‘don’t you see all those clouds?’

It was almost constant. And I was surprised at how uncomfortable I felt as this had never been my experience with her before and I thought of getting an apartment to rent short term but I knew if I did that, the friendship would be over. She didn’t seem to notice the change and she would be hurt. I didn’t want that.

It took just under three months for me to move into the perfect house for me. We remained friends, but something fundamental had changed. One day at lunch she was telling me about how her ex-husband (also deceased) used to say that she argued with him all the time. She had a comeback to that and all I could think of was how right he was and how much I could relate.

And as I thought about it, and the fact that along with the 7th house of marriage partner, he could be seen by the 4th house, too. I decided to have a look at her chart and there it was:

When I was a friend I was indicated by the 11th house. Cancer (nurturing and caring) was on the cusp and the Moon ruled that house. It was in my birth sign, Sagittarius, in good aspect to her Venus in Libra. I could see that clearly in her generous and kind behavior and how we had traveled to the UK (Sagittarius, long journeys) together and had a fantastic time.

Then I looked at the ruler of her 4th house. This house was ruled by Jupiter and her Jupiter in Aquarius was in the house of work, opposed by Mars in Leo in the 12th house. Mars in the sign of the king queen) in the hidden house of self-undoing was arguing with her Sagittarius friend who suddenly seemed to need ‘guidance’. A lot.

One of the relationships that seems to shift dramatically is when someone goes from a romantic partner (5th house) to a contractual marriage partner (7th house). “He/she changed at the wedding,” those quickly divorced are heard to say. I can say I have experienced this, too, but I will let you explore this idea on your own.

Of course the change to the 7th house can bring a ruler in good aspect, too. But it’s wise to check on that along with the synastry and composite charts if you plan to marry. And when you are looking at siblings and children, the house mentioned can represent the 1st born sibling and then we skip two houses for the next and so on…the 5th represents the first child and then we skip two houses for the second. The 7th represents the 1st marriage partner and two houses on, the second….

And there’s more ways to use the rulers of the houses, of course, but I thought it would be interesting to know that when you change roles in someone’s life, your astrological identity changes too, for better or worse. I wrote this in July of 2025 but it seems even more relevant today. Happily, I have more subscribers and followers who may not have seen this and may benefit from the information. One thing we must always remember is that our energy field affects the energy around us.

On October 1, 2024 when I got my power back after the unusual Hurricane Helene battered Georgia and the Carolinas, I posted an article about The New Normal. Little did I know that elemental weather and geophysical issues were going to accelerate to the intensity and frequency we experience now.

Where I live we are currently in an above normal heat zone which keeps us inside and grateful to have power, so the air conditioners and fans are working. Daily pockets of rainy weather have been going above or below us, so we are also dry.

This morning, I surrendered to watering the plants in my back yard. The thirsty leaves crackled under the spray. I could almost hear the bushes gasping with relief. Birds began singing in the woods. If we don’t get a nice soaker this evening (every day there is a chance of rain and thunderstorms), I’ll water the front yard tomorrow.

But I admit that, after seeing the devastating floods in the world and in the US and the devastation that was not connected to a hurricane happen quickly in Texas, New Jersey, New York and North Carolina, I’m a bit worried that my calling for rain will produce this kind of treacherous, abnormal rainfall. And I need to let go of that.

Apart from this Water imbalance there are numerous volcanos erupting, fires burning vast areas of land and property, tornadoes, and earthquakes, both major and the minors that happen in clusters. I’m sure you are as aware as I am that we have entered a time of extremes.

In my post Emotions and The Elements, I gave some information and advice that I’d like to repeat, with some additions, here. It will be a reminder for me, and hopefully helpful for you, too.

From both Native American teachers and the training of Anwen, the Muse who inspired the Revealing the Druid Legacy series, I learned we are or can be empowered with tools to work as a guardian of the area where we live. Anwen tells us that the Priestess and Wise Woman of an area were responsible for this task. I would imagine all ancestral indigenous cultures, living close to and in relationship with nature, would have had ways to engage the elements and affect weather.

The Ancestral Celtic Way

From the Celtic culture came the wisdom of giving gifts to the Elementals connected to an Element. One of the gifts loved by Water Elementals is bread. We see short ceremonies with this and other elemental offerings in the novels.

When I visited Northern Wales, our Tour Group stayed at Trigonos*, a lovely retreat center on the lake across from Mt. Snowdon (properly called Yr Wyddfa, and the area of Snowdonia, Eryri). I was there in July of 2013, and the spring before, a big storm had caused the lake to rise, and the grounds had flooded.

The morning after we arrived, I opted to stay there instead of climbing a mountain to see a cave. After seven days traveling and a lot of walking, I knew I’d enjoy a quiet day of rest in this beautiful place with a garden filled with flowers and the view of these magical mountains. I knew this was the place I’d been inspired to write about in The Last Priestess.

On a walk after breakfast, I discovered there was a creek coming from the lake, parallel with the main house. There were short stone walls on the banks near a picturesque stone bridge. Sitting on top of the wall closest to the house was a small loaf. I’m sure it was baked and left there for this purpose.

And now that some of my Readers know me better, I will say that as the arrival of Helene approached, before I got down to the other work I’d do, I threw some large pieces of bread into the woods behind my house where a creek passes on its way to the river.

Ideally, like the creek in Wales, you’d go to the bank to give your gift. My gesture put the offering a bit far from the creek at the bottom of a slope and woods that are wild with no path to follow. Still, the intention carried the gift and its message was received. Despite the heavy rains, the creek did not pose a threat to our homes.

The Native American Way

What I learned about prayer from Native American teachers is that we focus on gratitude.

• Rain brings cleansing of the land and energizes bodies of water. It is also necessary for humans, plants and creatures of earth, sky and water.

• The Wind has the attributes of clearing the air, including our minds and thoughts.

• Lightning gives energy and life to the air.

• Thunder brings the sound vibration that clears emotions.

  

An example is prayer for rain. Instead of asking for it to come, we say thank you for the rain that comes in a way that is a blessing for all things. You may go further to include the positive attributes of rain that quenches thirst for plants and creatures and fills the reservoirs for humans.

When I pray this way it will override my worry about getting too much.

Fire is a difficult element to control, and setting protections, using Reiki (or another method you know) and/or creating an energy dome for an area, can be helpful. Send thoughts of peace to quiet anger and counteract some of the heat coming at us and the heating taking place at the earth’s core.

Human Effect on Geophysical Extremes

The geophysical forces at work now are reflecting changes happening to the earth itself. One day I read that earth was wobbling, and I wasn’t surprised. Another gave information about how far the north pole has shifted. Another told us that the core was heating and twisting. It’s hard to imagine all of that as a response to human behavior and emotions.

But humans do have an effect. On a material level, some of this comes from unending wars that bomb buildings and shake the ground. And we’ve adopted unwise practices in overworking, clear cutting, and overbuilding on the land. We may not have the personal power to effect those situations.

But the proliferation of intense fears and hatred can be helped by sending out the energy of peace: one way is to visualize and send the calming Red/gold (Archangel Michael) and the healing love frequency of Emerald Green (Archangel Raphael) into the matrix surrounding your area and/or the globe.

Calming Stress

We have methods like Bach Flower Remedies (and other flower essences), homeopathic products, herbs, and essential oils to create a peaceful state of being.

Breathing practice, yoga practice and oriental movement like Tai Chi or QiGong, and meditation are other ways to achieve peace during this time of extremes.

In the old days they said, “The Moon Tells the Tale.” It is told in the aspects the Moon makes as it moves quickly through each sign. In daily forecasts, the Moon’s sign and phase colors the mood of the day and what activities are supported.

About Your Personal Moon

Knowing the Moon Sign and Phase at birth is helpful as this combination describes your instinctive feelings and responses to the environment. And this also lets you know when you will have a personal Monthly Lunar Return when the Moon returns to the degree and sign it was in at birth. Those charts can be very helpful for planning ahead and understanding the focus for that timeframe.

· The Moon in Waxing 2^nd Quarter Phase continues this week. We find ways to fertilize our ideas and projects and seek the tools and connections we need to have them flourish at the Full Moon on the 29th. Moon is in Waxing Gibbous Phase.

· The Libra Moon begins the week. Libra Moon brings the instinct to discuss, compromise, create relationships, create beauty, see all sides. Pitfalls: People pleasing, using charm to influence others, difficulty making choices, swinging back and forth in moods and opinions.

· Monday Libra Moon is among the fluctuating energies of the morning and plans for activity are not settled. The internal fluctuation remains as the day goes on and will not have come to a comfortable resolution as the day begins on Tuesday morning (EDT). Moon is Void of Course until it enters Scorpio.

· Scorpio Entry Tuesday at 9:36 a.m. EDT. Scorpio Moon brings the instinct to protect the self by being in control and influencing situations for personal safety and profit. Pitfalls: Being unconscious of motivation and the effect of actions, taking revenge, micromanaging, keeping secrets.

· Tuesday Scorpio Moon struggles with challenges about values, money and control through early evening (EDT). It may go into a retreat mode to process the day before sleep but it is headed for a better day on Wednesday.

· Wednesday Scorpio Moon is rewarded with an easy flow of energy, in business and personal meetings. There is mutual appreciation for the insights into how to deal with health and work matters and utilize shared resources. The Sun shifts into Leo at 3:13 p.m. EDT and the ease of communicating continues for Scorpio Moon, but the subject may shift to family and resolving an issue for children or security needs. Mercury is Stationary for direct motion on Thursday while the Moon is Void of Course until it enters Sagittarius. It’s a good evening to relax and ponder how the feelings and decisions have changed during the retrograde period which began on June 29^th. Scorpio Moon can dive deep and find treasure when in the investigation mode.

· Sagittarius Entry, Thursday at 9:07 p.m. EDT. Sagittarius Moon brings the instinct to expand, see the big picture, take long journeys in body and mind, find humor. Pitfalls: inability to sit still, overstepping boundaries, telling tales, well-meaning but inappropriate humor.

· Thursday Sagittarius Moon moves toward the harmony of the lights in a trine to the Sun in Leo. Instinctive response and Desire to express are on the same wavelength. Mercury has gone direct in Cancer but is still stationary. We shouldn’t give much credence to what we’ve heard during the day or make plans for the future. We’ll be ready for that when Mercury is back up to speed (see the Planetary and Lunar Events section).

· Friday Sagittarius Moon wakes from pleasant dreams of adventure and ideas about the future but finds a surprising change that takes place in the early morning hours (EDT). Undaunted we find relief in humor and optimism. Good conversations lead the way into an evening where we feel more grounded in the way to pursue our goals.

· Saturday Sagittarius Moon runs into issues with another’s need for more perfection and an argument can start over different points of view during the morning (EDT). But Sagittarius Moon is free to roam for the rest of Saturday in the Void of Course phase until it enters Capricorn.

· Capricorn Entry, Sunday at 9:44 a.m. EDT. Capricorn Moon brings the instinct to structure, follow rules and regulations, use proven methods, and be an authority. Pitfalls: strict parameters, overly authoritative, critical, seemingly cold.

· Sunday, Capricorn Moon feels the shift of Capricorn’s ruling planet, Saturn, into Retrograde motion that begins at 3:56 p.m. (EDT). This shakes the Capricorn need for structure and Moon is in a state of confusion until grounding a bit after dinnertime (EDT). Still, there is a big Authority Challenge in the Solar aspect to Pluto that doesn’t help and we may sense more challenges are ahead.

· Moon Remains in Capricorn with aspects on Monday.

SUN ENTERS LEO

On Wednesday, July 22^nd at 3:13 p.m. EDT, the Sun leaves the sentimental waters of Cancer and enters the fixed Fire sign, Leo.

Fixed Fire can be imagined by lighting a candle. The quick burst of light on the wick is the Cardinal creator, Aries, while the orange-yellow flame is Leo. Ruled by the Sun, Leo represents the dependable presence of light and warmth.

I’ve said a bit about the negative polarity of this sign in Friday’s post on the shift of the Lunar Nodes. That takes place on July 26^th, and the nodes will be south Leo and north Aquarius. Aspects of Leo nature must be uplifted and/or released. You can read a list in that post. It’s important to know because our evolutionary opportunity to master this masterful sign will be with us until March of 2028. I believe when we know what we are working with, we can make conscious choices.

The positive Leo is affectionate, loving, generous, loyal and courageous. It seeks to provide for loved ones, including children (Leo is the sign of the Father). Leo is romantic and enjoys that experience as well as entertainment that can range from opera to sports. It is also the place of creativity and self-expression.

It rules the heart and spine, both of which have phrases that show importance: ‘He is the backbone of the organization,’ ‘She is the heart of this community.’ But the Lion is also regal and can get a bit bossy about having their way. Investment is their financial area of focus, and they are also the sign of gambling (well, the Stock Market is truly a gamble with stocks and dividends instead of cards and chips).

This year, the first aspect for the Sun in Leo is the opposition to retrograde Pluto in Aquarius, lending another ‘handle’ aspect to the unusual basket/cradle of outer planets. This aspect shows the conflict of loyalty versus independence, special versus equal, that is part of the Lunar Node learning with Aquarius in the north node. Not long after the lucky conjunction of Sun and Jupiter, the Full Moon at 6 Aquarius on the 29^th will reawaken the experience of the opposition.

Autumn was said to begin under this Fire Sign and we will see the Leo colors of gold and orange on the leaves as time goes on. The house where this transit takes place will hold strength, courage, and loyalty, while the Sunlight will also reveal things that should be seen.

The Sun is in Leo until it moves to the sign of the Goddess of Grains, Virgo, on August 22^nd.

MERCURY GOES DIRECT

The week beginning Monday July 20^th holds the slowdown in retrograde before Mercury stations direct at 16 Cancer. The standstill is felt Wednesday and Thursday because even in Direct Motion, occurring at 6:58 p.m. EDT on Thursday, the 23^rd, Mercury will not begin to move until a day or so after.

These slowdown and standstill moments are the hardest part of the retrograde that represents the nature of the internalized mind. It resumes its normal one degree a day speed when it reaches 18 Cancer on the 31^st. It will move out of the retrograde shadow when it reaches 27 degrees Cancer on August 4^th.

It’s important to be aware when out and about or when doing activities that require precision handwork on the stationary days and until it gets back up to speed.

If you are a Gemini or Virgo Sun and/or Ascendant, you will notice this forward movement first. We will all notice the issues of the houses holding Gemini and Virgo on the cusp will begin to move forward. And as the slow return to normal takes place, you may notice how your ideas and thoughts have changed. Allow yourself to contemplate this before you begin any new project.

SATURN RETROGRADES AT 14 ARIES

Saturn is many things…The authority or your boss (planet of the 10^th house of career) who gives you the rules and regulations. It is the wise teacher who shows which tried and true methods work and grades your exam papers. But also, Saturn is the Lord of Time and Karma.

When we struggle with Saturn aspects, frustration about timing and a feeling of bad luck precedes understanding the reason for the obstacle. And the best thing to do is agree with Saturn that a major teaching is occurring. Ask for the meaning and listen to what you receive. Once you agree to learn the lesson, the struggle recedes.

In general, we can say Saturn in Aries is delivering a teaching about anger and warfare, selfish motivations and impatience, timing and steady application towards your goals, and about lowering the flame but not putting the fire out.

Although in the material world we are seeing difficulty and obstacles due to heat and the dryness that is creating massive fires. We know there is a lesson here that those who might learn and implement it are resistant to learn.

With Saturn Retrograde, we ponder all of this.

Saturn has been on the 14^th degree of the cardinal fire sign since June 27^th. It goes direct on Sunday the 26^th at 3:58 p.m. EDT. It will slowly move backward and finally reach 13 Aries on August 27^th. You will know that if you have planets in exact aspect or within 5 degrees of 14 Aries, this has been a long 3 months, especially if the aspect is a challenging conjunction, square or opposition.

It will slow down to stay a while on 9, 8, and 7 degrees in retrograde, going direct on December 10^th at 7 and moving up to 8 degrees as the year ends. It will get to 27 Aries before retrograding in 2027.

If you are a Capricorn (or maybe an Aquarius, I’m not sure that rulership still applies.) you will feel that slowdown and retrograde energy first. We will all feel the slowdown in the house that has Capricorn (and maybe Aquarius) on the cusp and where the transit in Aries takes place.

Entering the Retrograde Cycle of the Solar Year

We have Pluto retrograde, Mercury retrograde, and Neptune went retrograde on July 7^th. Saturn retrogrades on July 26^th. Uranus retrogrades on September 10^th, Venus on October 3^rd, Mercury again on October 24^th and finally Jupiter on December 12^th.

The largest number of planets in retrograde will be when 5 are retrograding at the same time:

1. Mercury retrogrades again on October 24th, with Venus, Saturn Uranus, Neptune

2. Venus, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are retrograde (Pluto for 12 days but goes direct on Oct. 15th).

For those new to the concept of the Lunar Nodes, I am reposting information at the beginning of this post which will then move on to focus on the Meaning of the New Evolutionary Direction. Also, please know that I work only with the True Lunar Nodes. For this Sagittarius, the word ‘True’ seals the deal.

The Lunar Nodes are a point where the Plane of the Ecliptic (Earth’s orbit around the Sun) contacts the orbit of the Moon around the Earth. These points are seen to be in signs opposite each other in the Zodiac.

After 18 months with the South Node in Virgo and North Node in Pisces, the true Lunar Nodes will change their sign polarity on July 26, 2026. Nodes ‘progress’ backwards in the Zodiac so when the Lunar Nodes change signs, we will have 20 months to experience the South Node in Leo and the North Node in Aquarius.

Astrological Signs and the Lunar Nodes

About the Lunar Nodes, here is what I learned 50 years ago from my Astrology teacher. He suggested the south node shows where there is a negative, habitual tendency about issues relating to that sign and house location. If we work to elevate our behavior into the higher aspects of that sign, we can step up to achieve the positive potential of the sign and position of the north node.

This implication was also found in the teachings I received in the last London School taught by the founder of Evolutionary Astrology, Jeffrey Wolf Green (1999). His teaching focused on Pluto; the trans-Neptunian dwarf planet that orbits within our solar system but has enough of an elliptical orbit that it infrequently dips into the outer band of objects called the Kuiper Belt and goes closer to the Sun when it crosses the orbit of Neptune.

This can create the idea that Pluto is a messenger from the unknown, moving past the veil to deliver information or a lesson. Jeff said that our slowest outer planet shows the evolutionary needs of a group of souls born in a specific Pluto sign. It represents the lesson to be learned in this lifetime to move forward in our personal evolution.

After noting the sign and position of Pluto, we looked at the Lunar Nodes to see the behavior that pulls us backward and the direction that will move us forward in this evolutionary goal. The signs and houses are important, as are the planets that rule the sign of the nodes.

There is a lot more to know about this work and you can read his book to get you going and/or contact the school to take classes. Here I will review the effects of the evolutionary lunar nodes in the current polarity. We have a bit over 3 weeks left to experience them. Collective humanity is on this mission just as we are as individuals.

The 2026 Nodal Shift

For the past 19 months we have had the Nodal polarity in South Virgo, North Pisces. We have had Solar and Lunar eclipses primarily in these signs, however there’s always a crossover appearance of the sign of the previous or future axis. Example: In 2026, we had our first Solar Eclipse before the current axis shifted but the Solar Eclipse of February 17th was at 28 Aquarius…the coming north node. Then we had a Lunar Eclipse at 12 Virgo on March 3rd, the sign of the current south node. Another Solar Eclipse will be in the new south node axis at 20 Leo. But the August Lunar Eclipse will be in to former north node 4 Pisces.

Note: Looking ahead, 2027 will have an unusual five eclipses with three being Lunar Eclipses. The first in February is at the former south node 2 Virgo, the second is in July at 25 Capricorn (the next axis n node sign) and a Lunar Eclipse at the current north node 24 Aquarius on August 17th. (More on that next year.)

Evolving Consciousness Through Leo and Aquarius

The New South Node: Leo where we will upgrade self expression and let go of ego-focused needs for recognition.

The south node shifts to Leo, fixed fire sign of creativity, self-expression, romance, loyalty, courage, fatherhood, providing, protecting, parenting, affection, play, children, entertainment, drama, actors, royals, sports, investment, gambling, our personal ‘kingdom.’ The heart and spine. Cardiovascular.

The north node shifts to Aquarius, fixed air sign of intuition, objectivity, prana/chi, astrology, group affiliations, community, goals, plans, the future, money from career, independence, unique objects and activities, equality, inclusion, surprises, inventions, electronics, energy, frequencies, wireless communications, The calf and ankle. Neurological.

Our Evolutionary Potential includes overcoming and uplifting these aspects of Leo

Negative effects that are lessons with South Node transit in Leo:

• Attention-seeking

• Demanding loyalty

• Overly concerned with personal appearance

• Overly concerned with accumulation of wealth

• Behaving as and seeking to be superior

• Desire for Gold and Designer Fashion

• Dramatic displays

• Laziness

• Overindulgence

• Overstepping boundaries

• Ego versus Heart

• Overcompensating or Withdrawal due to Fear of Failure

To achieve this shift we must learn to care less about getting attention and approval and to create the opening our heart to feel and send love. The potential of an evolved Sun-ruled Leo is to be a great beam of light, love and support for all.

Note: Those with south node Leo in the birth chart have been in lifetimes where they may have been royal or affluent and expect to receive this focus of attention. The great divide that exists today between fewer numbers of those who are exceedingly wealthy and those in/or near poverty level generates anger from the lower status and fear of attack in the upper status. The natal south node in Leo must learn to stay in the present life circumstances and find ways to create and express themselves in moderation.

Achieving the Highest Expression of the North Node in Aquarius

Positive evolutionary potential that arises with North Node transit in Aquarius:

• Recognizing the self as a unique expression is experienced by the whole of humanity and our natural world.

• Accepting the unique expression of others in all areas of their lives, including religion, nationality, race, and traditions.

• Accepting the unique expression of others in who and what they love.

• Becoming part of a like-minded community to make positive contributions through our own inspired thoughts and visions.

• Using energy frequency techniques to calm and balance the nervous system and bring the mind to rest.

• Forming alliances with other groups to work for positive goals.

• Allowing ourselves to be known by those we love by communicating and sharing our truth and feelings

Note: Those with north node Aquarius in their charts must learn to expand outward from isolation and self-focus into becoming reliable members of a chosen community and use their natural intuition and objectivity to provide helpful solutions and practices. They are elevated by time spent exploring their hopes and goals for the self that will work for all, as well as finding ways to achieve them.

The 2026-2027 Eclipse dates in the new nodal axis.

The Eclipses mark a change in our lives and in the outer world. The Lunar Eclipse involves a change (ending, new beginning) in the area of relationships to people, things, and situations. The Solar Eclipse is a change and a new pathway opening in the outer world.

We have two more eclipses to go this year, and both are after the shift into the new axis. Perhaps we will experience more issues before this year is through in the signs of Virgo Pisces issues we have been working on for the last 18 months.

It’s up to each of us to look at this list and find where it will be affecting your birth chart and where you might work on what you find lacking and what you can improve on as these endings and new beginnings arrive.

The old polarity themes don’t leave quickly and still need resolution.

In case your social media has not brought you into contact with one of the countless articles on an unusual astrological configuration, I’ll give some background here which includes my own point of view. It may be quite different. Most if not all the articles I’ve seen include Barbault’s ideal view of this basket formation as the best thing seen for the 21st century.

I don’t argue with this, but as a Sagittarian, I like to explore the whole picture. Which right now may seem like an iridescent balloon flying against a bright blue sky while an arm comes in from the right, hand holding a long, sharp needle.

No. I won’t actually burst that bubble…I promise. Much of it does sound good to me. But there are some things to know because if you are like me, you are waiting for something to at least tone down what seems to be a daily parade of insanity and overload of bad news. And this may bring some but not all of what you desire and the whole expression could take longer than we’d like.

In a post last week I spoke about this mental overload and the morning practice I have started to help me release fear and look forward with optimism. I know that seeing positive potential helps this happen. But having overly high expectations is another thing that can bring a big letdown. So I promise that once I finish with the ‘reality portion of this article’ I have some interesting news about a long ago formation that came close to this basket in its nature and how it did change the world for the better.

Reality

One thing I would mention first is the actual nature of a new name for Barbault’s Basket. When you break it down, it doesn’t describe what we’re seeing: the name is Mini Grand Trine. It bothers me because after 50+ years of knowing a trine is a 120-degree aspect between two planets and a Grand Trine is a full, triangular figure made by three planets, usually in the same element, I can only see a Mini Grand Trine describe a small image of the full triangle. Both the regular and the grand trines are seen as a supportive influence where things come and are accomplished easily, although the grand trine is considered most auspicious.

However, in the configuration taking place there is only one planet pair in one 120 degree trine aspect and both are in the air element: Uranus in Gemini and Pluto in Aquarius. Then, between these two, in the exact midpoint when they reach the same degree, is another planet. It is in the Fire element: Neptune in Aries. Both Uranus and Pluto make a 60-degree aspect (half a trine) called a sextile to Neptune. Some say the sextile is an aspect of helpful opportunity where there is ease of relationship.

In this case we may find the surprising downloads of intuition (Uranus in Gemini) supported by the visionary aspect of new creation (Neptune in Aries). From the other side, we may find transformation of electronic capabilities (Pluto in Aquarius) receiving that same support.

I can see it as a basket if you include the curve of the circle, which most don’t, and picture a flat line with sides leaning right and left.

As a basket or, if you must, a mini grand trine, there is a powerful flow between these outer planets that mark generations and have a deep effect on the experience of life on Earth. That part is true. And it can be very good. But it’s not always as positive as we might wish.

Because another thing you can see in the basket is the use of electronically operated Drones for warfare and other attacks on human and natural life while the authority who directs these is hidden. Regarding Pluto in Aquarius…the sextile helps authoritarian power over the people, through surveillance and energy influences that may be delivering mind control.

Polarity is in all life and experiences on Earth, including astrology signs and aspects. We live in a world that moves either toward positivity or negativity. And we can’t always assume that moving toward positivity brings the most benevolent outcome. A good aspect assists a thief as well as a surgeon’s hands.

The idea of having a handle for the basket is also not what we see now. In order to have a that we would need an aspect to both sides and one at the apex opposite the middle of the basket. To have that we’d need a planet opposing Neptune and now that would be a planet in Libra. What we have is a year with Jupiter, only for a brief time in 4 Leo. And this opposes one side of the basket, Pluto in Aquarius. Connect them and you have a larger basket (see image above).

Jupiter in Leo trines Neptune in Aries and sextiles Uranus in Gemini. It is significant the way it is because of those expansive effects on these planets and because the Evolutionary Lunar Nodes shift into South Node Leo and North Node Aquarius later this month. We may have some unexpected luck if our chart has a connection to the Jupiter sextile aspect to Uranus while we are all having some foreshadowing of our evolutionary work to come.

The Basket of the Boomers

The ongoing sextile between Pluto and Neptune began in 1944. The aspect will end in 2035. While in this sextile Pluto was in Leo from 1939 to 1957-8 and Neptune was in Libra for its full cycle in 1943 until 1956.

Uranus entered Gemini in October of 1941, but it retrograded and reentered for the full cycle in May of 1942. It remained in Gemini until August of 1949.

During the 1940s the three outer planets came close to the same exact degrees of their signs but only two achieved the same degree at a time. However, the long-lasting configuration had effects.

One of these was migration due to war and the loss of home and property and for some, the loss of life. War increased the use of airplanes. Another was the creation of Big Band music. And then there was the end of WWII in 1945 and the formation of the NATO alliance of allied countries for mutual defense in 1949. The creation of Israel, where they sent the surviving Jews, and where we have a crisis now with Pluto opposing the Natal Leo Pluto and Neptune opposing the Natal Libra Neptune of its birth.

Neptune in Libra is about relationships, peace, harmony, and the arts. Pluto in Leo (father and children) brought the first generation of children who received a focus of attention and value and the shift of power from Royalty to Hollywood Stars and Sports Heroes. Uranus in Gemini expanded use of electronic products and other new inventions. What began as listening to radio news and live plays and going to the movies, would expand into television.

Neptune in Libra sextile Pluto in Leo saw returning soldiers marrying and having babies…the Baby Boom. And the GI bill (1944) was there, offering ways to buy your own home and more.

Some of this changed life for the better, but it was the children born with this configuration that went on to create famous shifts in the consensus culture of the US and elsewhere. It happened when they came of age during the challenge of Pluto and Uranus in Virgo to their natal Uranus in Gemini.

This generation with Pluto in Leo and Neptune in Libra would produce powerful, seductive, and beautiful music, as well as films and literature. The Beatles have been said to have changed the world in many ways. Musically they brought in the orchestra, Eastern spiritual sounds, and each album was unique. The performers influenced the political opinions of their listeners who, with Neptune in Libra, were interested in peace, justice, and idealized relationships.

Uranus in Gemini also produced independent thinking that overturned the beliefs of their parents and the generations before them. They began the late 1960s protest marches, joining the fight for racial equality, women’s rights, gay rights (the words used then) and the anti-war movement. They created their own styles for hair and clothing (Like jeans? Guess who wore them first), and protests included the burning of bras. Free love, birth control, and more travel became part of their lives.

Not all of this changed things for the better and there was also a rise in the use of drugs, from the mellow pot days and LSD to other, harder drugs and pills. But it also brought in a time when spirituality became a focus, including the exploration of Hindu culture and oriental medicine. Astrology was in a famous song from the hit Broadway Musical “Hair”.

The Basket Generation

This time beginning in 2026 must produce a different effect as the signs for Pluto are Aquarius (detachment, freedom, equality) and Neptune in Aries (spiritualization, dissolving, or overidealizing the individual self) are not on the same wavelength as the one Boomers were surfing. But we can see more focus coming on energy as the source of healing and we might have a consciousness shift into the move away from war. We can hope that Uranus in Gemini brings ways to use power that doesn’t poison the earth and ways to clean up the mess we’ve made in the oceans and elsewhere. But the future holds what it will. No one saw the Hippies coming…believe me.

Many of you will be there to see what this will be…as it begins with this generation’s coming of age challenges in approximately 2043 when Uranus is in Leo and Neptune in Taurus both challenging their natal Pluto, and Pluto is still in Aquarius until 2044 when it enters Pisces.

A focus on the Moon is appropriate for understanding the flow of the week’s energy. In the old days they said, “The Moon Tells the Tale.” It is told in the aspects the Moon makes as it moves quickly through each sign. In daily forecasts, the Moon’s sign and phase colors the mood of the day and what activities are supported.

About Your Personal Moon

Knowing the Moon Sign and Phase at birth is helpful as this combination describes your instinctive feelings and responses to the environment. And this also lets you know when you will have a personal Monthly Lunar Return when the Moon returns to the degree and sign it was in at birth. Those charts can be very helpful for planning ahead and understanding the focus for that timeframe.

When someone books a reading with me, I always look at where the Moon will be during the reading to get information about the client’s most important issue.

In progressions to your birth chart, we will find your Moon is in a different sign, phase and location. This is also good to know as it shows deeper and longer lasting effects. In a similar cycle to Saturn, there is a full chart Lunar Return near ages 27, 54, and 81. Knowing this gives more information about the signs, houses, and phases of the progressed Moon which reveals where feelings and changes are most pronounced and when the location and signs shift.

We begin to see where things have to change or be released and look at how we can have better results in the future or continue to enjoy our successes. The day before the New Moon we are in the Dark or Balsamic Phase of the Moon. It is not seen as it is with the Sun.

· When the Cancer Moon joins the 21-degree Cancer Sun at 5:44 a.m. EDT on Tuesday, the Cancer New Moon arrives. This is a time to set intentions for the new lunar cycle. Intentions related to Cancer…home, family, nurturing, emotional and material safety, etc., are particularly supported now.

· Wednesday we are in the Waxing 1st Quarter Lunar Phase. We begin to see where we can plant the seeds of our intentions to help them grow toward the harvest of attainment. We will see a sliver of the Waxing Crescent Moon appear just before Sunrise on Thursday.

· The Cancer Moon begins the week. Cancer Moon brings the instinct to create a safe space and others who will help us feel secure emotionally, nurturing for both self and others, protecting sensitivities, protecting the nest and the financial nest-egg. Pitfalls: Over sensitivity, over-protective, over-eating, hoarding, losing focus on present time.

· Monday Cancer Moon is moving toward challenges and obstacles that arrive in the early evening EDT. Rules and regulations or the presence of a self-focused authority create feelings of insecurity and rejection. The New Moon energy could make for less energy and a need for more sleep. But Cancer Moon is moving on to connect with an understanding person or family member in the overnight (EDT).

· Tuesday Cancer Moon joins the Sun and the Cancer New Moon arrives at 5:44 a.m. EDT. Intentions may also be set on this day. Cancer Moon is Void of Cours until it enters Leo.

· Leo Entry Tuesday at 6:35 p.m. EDT. Leo Moon brings the instinct for giving affection, providing, self-expression, creativity, entertainment and receiving attention. Pitfalls: dramatic, demanding, over-spending, attention-seeking.

· Tuesday Leo Moon may have issues about money and values while square Chiron in Taurus until the evening (EDT) but recovers a sense of play, humor and fun when it joins Jupiter at 11:49 p.m. (EDT).

· Wednesday Leo Moon has had some dreams or experiences of adventure and creativity, followed by a power struggle with authority in the early morning hours. But late morning brings a good time for meeting with others who have stimulating ideas and new visions. Meeting with someone who knows how these things could work brings a sense of direction by dinnertime. · Thursday Virgo Moon wants to help someone with financial issues or feelings of inadequacy, but it is moving toward a surprising change that happens in the early hours on Friday.

· Friday Virgo Moon meets with a charming co-worker or employee that brings things back to order in the late morning (EDT). But the challenge of an argument can turn nasty during dinner time and early evening. Having a talk with children or younger people who enjoy the support of Virgo’s organization and logic comes in during the early morning hours on Saturday.

· Saturday Virgo Moon has a whole day to feel welcome time of ease, assistance, and understanding all the way through dinner time and in the Void of Course until Moon enters Libra.

· Libra Entry, Sunday at 12:57 a.m. EDT. Libra Moon brings the instinct to discuss, compromise, create relationships, create beauty, see all sides. Pitfalls: People pleasing, using charm to influence others, difficulty making choices, swinging back and forth in moods and opinions.

· Sunday, Libra Moon has a pleasant but confusing morning when someone is not who they appear to be. But this clears and Libra Moon has access to new information and enjoys stimulating conversation about new ideas. It is a pleasant day but there is an obstacle on the way in the early hours on Monday.

· Moon Remains in Libra with aspects on Monday. EDT

CANCER NEW MOON

The 21 Cancer New Moon arrives on Tuesday, July 14^th at 5:44 a.m. EDT.

At the time of this New Moon or beginning of a new cycle, we have the three planets in the ‘minor grand trine’ all in 4 degrees (Uranus in 4 Gemini, Neptune in 4 Aries, and Pluto in 4 Aquarius). Jupiter is one degree away from being in 4 Leo, opposing Pluto. People are talking about a new way opening up…a tipping point into something we may not have experienced before. And when that happens, we can’t know what it will be or how we will deal with it. But we have had many indicators of major shift taking place.

It began to show itself with the shift in December of 2012 into what they said would be ‘timeless time.’ Now we know what that is…the time it takes for change and evolution to take place has become immediate. Change is constant now and that has human mind frazzled. We feel overloaded and bombarded.

Jupiter in Leo would like time to stretch out and lie in the Sun and maybe that’s what the opposition to Pluto in the three outer planets mini grand trine is all about: a way to go through this by letting go of the need to achieve, to create, to engage and allow rest to quiet our mind and feelings. Be Here Now.

The Cancer New Moon is in the sign of home, family, and the desire for emotional and material security. Mercury is retrograding there, bringing back memories of other times, sentimental attachments, and loved ones who’ve passed on. But this could also be the time we set our intentions for how we want to be nurtured and who we want to walk with us on this journey…people we feel uplifted by and safe in their friendship.

Venus is in Virgo in exact Yod formation with the sextile from Pluto to Neptune. We have to adjust our inherited beliefs about perfection and proper ways to behave in order to receive the spiritualization of the I Am and the power of our own vision. Uranus in Gemini is square Venus, so sudden intuitive downloads and new ideas will also challenge Venus (our love nature and values) to grow. The goal of Virgo is to ‘know thyself’ through all the experiences of life and be complete within and not dependent on the approval of others and free from our habits.

With Saturn in Aries square the retrograde Mercury in Cancer, our attachment to the past will not show us the new structures and actions that will work for us. Allow time to examine this, and relationships to discover if there is a positive effect and if not, allow those things to leave.

In the chart set for Washington, DC, Cancer represents the people of the country and their needs. The zero degrees Aries Midheaven reminds us of the Saturn Neptune conjunction at zero Aries that was the beginning of a New Era.

Entering the Retrograde Cycle of the Solar Year

We have Pluto retrograde, Mercury retrograde, and Neptune went retrograde on July 7^th. Saturn retrogrades on July 26^th. Uranus retrogrades on September 10^th, Venus on October 3^rd, Mercury again on October 24^th and finally Jupiter on December 12^th.

The largest number of planets in retrograde will be when 5 are retrograding at the same time:

1. Mercury retrogrades again on October 24th, with Venus, Saturn Uranus, Neptune

Because of unforeseen events taking up a large portion of my day, this will be a short article but I hope it brings some helpful information.

Someone (a stranger of course) on Instagram suggested saying these words first thing every morning would change life for the better. I’m giving it a try because, why not? And like Mary Bennet says in the hit series “The Other Bennet Sister,” you can feel content and happy with your life, “but one can always be a little bit happier, I suppose.”

Here’s what the unknown Instagram Guru suggests:

Before you start your day, put your hand on your heart and say:

Well, it’s not “Abracadabra!” but I have seen minor shifts in my actions, behavior, and experiences. I have been more consistent with my vow to not look at the news before I’ve had my morning rituals and breakfast, too. That helps.

And the day moves peacefully along until that certain email, phone call, or breaking news arrives. A lot of us feel overwhelmed with all the bombarding and it’s not a surprise. We weren’t made to live at this speed or process so many messages.

And so, it was for me today when a big disappointment with confusion over how to act in response resulted from receiving an email. My mind started whirling and I was tempted to lose myself in worry and anxiety. But I didn’t.

Maybe it was being open to abundance or trusting the day and myself, but I took the right action. I expressed the truth of my concerns. And I ended up with something better than I could have imagined.

Knowing Why

One thing I love about Astrology is that when things occur, both negative and positive, you can usually see the reason in the influence of current planets to your birth chart.

I mentioned the ability to detach and observe that may not be there when you have strong feelings. And it does make it hard to read for yourself, or for those people or situations where you are emotionally attached. (Objectivity versus Attachment posted Wednesday.)

Of course, it’s easier to see clearly when it’s hindsight. And one of the perks then is knowing how long the influence will last.

As I was creating the Cancer New Moon chart (information in the next Moondays Report) I saw the influences affecting me today, how it would be over soon, and also the potential for assistance coming from two Centaurs that bestow psychic vision (Okyrhoe) and gut wisdom (Pholus).

As a warmup to issues we will be seeing when the nodes shift to south node Leo (attachment and loyalty) to north node Aquarius (detached observation) came to my attention during an impromptu discussion between astrologers last week.

I hold the belief that Astrology itself as a study of the effects of unseen energy belongs to the sign of Aquarius. The Air Element is the Mental Realm and Aquarius is the fixed air sign. This implies the unseen energy that is constant…like the Chi or Prana, or the effects of objects on one another over a distance.

Even though the constellation in the realm of Aquarius portrays a young man pouring water, this is an air sign. There are several versions of the myth of the water bearer and one the AI brought up first was this:

Ganymede: According to Greek Legends and Myths, Zeus saw the handsome youth and sent an eagle to bring him to Mount Olympus. There, Ganymede served as the cupbearer for the gods, pouring out water and nectar for all eternity.

Other symbolic meanings are:

· Aquarius pouring water represents the sharing of divine wisdom, higher consciousness, and universal knowledge with humanity.

· Known as the “Water Bearer,” this act signifies a humanitarian pouring truth, fresh perspectives, and enlightenment into the collective, rather than dealing with literal water or emotions.

· The water represents cosmic truth and intellectual enlightenment.

· Because Aquarius is an air sign, the “water” is actually a metaphor for ideas and progressive thinking being poured into the world.

In astrological and esoteric traditions, the act of pouring water heavily ties into the transition into the Age of Aquarius. This shift marks an era where humanity moves from orthodox beliefs (the Piscean Age) to experiential knowledge, unity, and a deeper understanding of universal truth. *

All of the descriptions above rely on the detachment from the old and willingness to receive new ideas and wisdom. And we can see why this is a fitting direction for evolution now.

The conversation came up because of a comment involving a beloved public figure in the entertainment industry. On that day astrologers awaited news of the effects of an aspect between the passionate God of War and the unpredictable revolutionary Ruler of Aquarius. Common words in astrology forecasts were volatile, surprises, disruption of communications or electronics.

We later discovered that in the US alone the exact conjunction produced:

· 24 mass shootings (most not reported in major outlets) on that day

· Unusual behavior from Bob Dylan who had this aspect in his house of work and during a performance, dissatisfied with what he was hearing, he took the guitar away from that performer and played it himself.

· Hundreds of masked ‘patriots’ marching to the chant ‘Reclaim America.’

· A man swimming in the Reflection Pool with a giant hand strapped onto his back, giving the finger.

But because another event involved the beloved public figure, this same combination, some said, could only be good. If someone thought differently then they were projecting this onto the aspect and should not do that. It was suggested that all aspects are neutral and only our minds make the distinction between good and bad aspects and ‘our point of view makes our opinion on this take place’.

That last phrase is true when applied to our response to the events of life. We have something happen and then we judge whether that was good or not. But I don’t think we control the nature of the solar system energy and the knowledge of the polarity of positive and negative that is contained in an Astrological position. With no help from us it will do what it does and then we can decide if this was good or not and probably not know the truth about its purpose until years later when ‘all is said and done.’

And in alignment with Aquarius Astrologers also use intuitive or psychic input to know, also looking at where the aspect occurs and how it relates to other planets and the birth chart, etc., what they might say about it.

Astrologers can provide Election Charts to determine a good time to have a medical procedure, take a vacation, open a business, get married, etc.. We weigh the nature of the planetary signs and aspects and connect them with the birth chart to find a time when positive and appropriate energy is in play.

However, each day we also have an opportunity to choose whether we want to use that day for certain activities. And I believe knowing the nature of astrological energy can help us with that choice. (That’s why Daily Aspects are part of my Moondays Report.) I find that when the aspects are flowing well, so does the activity of the day. Only another challenging aspect connecting to the individual chart can override that.

When the Lunar Node shift comes, the south node Leo will have us evolve through looking at our loyalty and where we direct it or expect it. It will show us what or who influences how we express ourselves, and how deeply we identify with our decision or opinion.

For me then, the question is not whether an aspect is good or not, but if we can have the detached observation and assessment if we are too attached to the person or situation we are looking at. And I think that is something an Astrologer should consider. It’s very hard to read for yourself, for instance. It can be hard to read for other loved ones, too.

When we look at Pluto in Aquarius, we find the potential for intense attitudes and action in both the electronic and mental realms. In the sign of Astrology, we’ve already seen a battle over house systems and whose was the only true and right method. People were on a warpath and relationships were severed…much like the division that exists in the country over political beliefs.

But the good news for Astrology is that no one can or deserves to tell you the only right way to receive input from symbols. That is what we ‘do without doing’. No one will comment on all or the same indicator of an aspect present when certain charts exploring events are shared in astrology groups…a list of comments will point out different things that conveyed the most important idea for each observer. And in their sharing, we get to see it, too.

Fortunately, most of the time we have the Aquarian attitude of being open to receive a new point of view. As Pluto continues in the basket formation with a trine to the Aquarius ruler Uranus in Gemini and both in a sextile to Neptune in Aries, spiritualizing the I Am, we will be rewarded when we remain detached observers who are open to the eternal downloads of nectar and wisdom.

A focus on the Moon is appropriate for understanding the flow of the week’s energy. In the old days they said, “The Moon Tells the Tale.” It is told in the aspects the Moon makes as it moves quickly through each sign. In daily forecasts, the Moon’s sign and phase colors the mood of the day and what activities are supported.

About Your Personal Moon

Knowing the Moon Sign and Phase at birth is helpful as this combination describes your instinctive feelings and responses to the environment. And this also lets you know when you will have a personal Monthly Lunar Return when the Moon returns to the degree and sign it was in at birth. Those charts can be very helpful for planning ahead and understanding the focus for that timeframe.

When someone books a reading with me, I always look at where the Moon will be during the reading to get information about the client’s most important issue.

In progressions to your birth chart, we will find your Moon is in a different sign, phase and location. This is also good to know as it shows deeper and longer lasting effects. In a similar cycle to Saturn, there is a full chart Lunar Return near ages 27, 54, and 81.Knowing this gives more information about the signs, houses, and phases of the progressed Moon which reveals where feelings and changes are most pronounced and when the location and signs shift.

· The week begins with 3^rd Quarter Lunar Phase. In this disseminating phase we are distributing gifts of our harvest which may include material things or what we have learned at the Full Moon. We see the waning Gibbous Moon.

· When the Aries Moon squares the 15-degree Cancer Sun at 3:29 pm. EDT on Tuesday, the Waning Half Moon arrives. This is when evaluation begins. We look to see if what we are experiencing or planning for aligns with our authentic self now. We clear karma and pay our debts. We want to finish projects. We see the Waning Half Moon.

· Tuesday we are in the waning 4th Quarter Lunar Phase. We begin to see where things have to change or be released and look at how we can have better results in the future or continue to enjoy our successes. We see the Waning Crescent Moon and by Sunday the Moon disappears from view in the Balsamic or Dark Phase.

· Monday Aries Moon has an entertaining, positive lunchtime in EDT, good for meetings, too. It finds new ideas and has hunches about the actions to take until early evening. Then some confusion arrives and we may take the wrong way, but a course correction occurs and we are back in a positive mode for the rest of the evening.

· Tuesday Aries Moon faces obstacles, disappointment, and a need for discipline until after lunchtime EDT. Relationships bring a conflict over who will lead with the fiery Moon impatient to begin versus the sensitive, cautious Sun. This will lead to more conflict when speaking with or about children overnight. Neptune Retrogrades at 6:55 a.m. EDT.

· Wednesday Aries Moon regains its feeling of freedom and enjoys pleasant relationship energy till the middle of the afternoon in EDT. Moon is Void of Course until it enters Taurus.

PLANETARY AND LUNAR EVENTS

NEPTUNE RETROGRADES AT 4 ARIES JULY 7 at 6:55 a.m. EDT.

Neptune has a long list of qualities and activity, and just like the fish swimming up and down in the Pisces Symbol, some of these are elevating and others are leading to the downward path.

In the Plus Column we have the planet of spirituality, psychic messages, creative inspirations, music, dance, film, photography, painting, and perfumes.

In the Negative Column we have toxicity and toxic substances, infection, poison, confusion, deception, spies, fantasy, suffering, victims and saviors, escapist behaviors, prisons and institutions.

In the Neutral Column we have the God of the Sea/Oceans, fish and the other creatures of the sea, boats, oil (food and other), wine, flight, dreams, empathy, and our body’s immunity and feet.

In retrograde motion the planetary energy is internalized so its actions are not seen in the world. The dissolving quality of water may take time to realize on a material and personal level. Hackers and threats to undersea cables are increasing and may have greater camouflage. Lifestyle habits that undermine wellbeing are not known and corrected. Actions and passing of legislation may have hidden motives and unknown consequences.

For individuals it can be used to enhance spiritual practice and creative projects (that are already in motion). There may be vivid dreams that can be interpreted for useful information. Enhances sensitivity to others and situations (including clairaudience and telepathy) that bring important messages that you may choose to examine and to act upon.

This is a time to pay attention when something or someone seems too good to be true. It is a time to check before acting on offers or giving out personal information. And when shopping for food, check the sell by date.

In retrograde Neptune will maintain its position in the center of the mini grand trine/basket formation. The first retrograde in Aries brought it back into Pisces, but now it will only go to 1 degree, where it goes direct on December 12^th.

VENUS ENTERS VIRGO

On Thursday, July 9^th the planet of love, values, and money leaves the dramatic sign of Leo and enters the practical, orderly world of Virgo at 1:22 p.m. EDT.

Of all the Venus signs, Virgo love nature may be the hardest one to recognize. We have our images of what love looks like and most do not include the idea of perfecting, assisting, teaching, and correcting. But time devoted to these perceived needs, and those of physical health, is loving to Virgo Venus. And if you know this, and you see it coming from a loved one, you may come to value that expression as much if not more than the others.

Virgo Venus will tend to be more cautious about getting involved, approaching on a shifting diagonal path instead of full speed ahead. But remember she is an Earth Venus and will be happy with the physical side of love once a relationship is established. And she will be happiest when she is allowed to be herself as an equal partner. Virgo is the sign that is complete within the self and will not take well to being dominated or treated as lesser-than.

Venus in Virgo loves to work and feels most appreciated when making a contribution to the efficiency of a company or a family. They may be drawn to the healing arts, where Venus in Virgo may earn an income along with the satisfaction of making a difference. They are also in a sign of teaching. But wherever they are, they like positions where they can fix, analyze, and organize on a regular basis.

Virgo Venus will spend money on work and office materials, and unless there is a challenging aspect to this, a focus on cleanliness causes Virgo Venus to spend on effective cleaning products of all kinds. The bathroom is important to Virgo Venus and she may spend on any item used in this area. If possible, there will be a complete bathroom upgrade along with replacing all the sheets and towels in the linen closet, as well as dishwashers, washing machines and dryers.

This is one Venus that might be happy when gifted a new vacuum cleaner or other useful household cleaning product. But she would also welcome a gift certificate to have a Spa Day. She will stock the cupboards and refrigerator with healthy foods and beverages and spend on dietary herbs and supplements and health methods not covered by insurance, like massage and others.

Virgo is the Goddess of Grains and creator of Cycles so with Venus here we will see a focus on the harvests in agriculture and in our lives and attune to the needs and activities appropriate to the current season, months, and days.
